Derek was working at the Perk today. No, not working as in 'writing a novel in public so people can see him' or 'sitting around, contemplating how terrible his life really was'. He was working as a barista.

How did this happen, one might ask.

Fangirls.

He wasn't seeing anything strange about his new job, sadly. He was just glaring at the milk foamer like it had offended him on some level.

Alec genuinely did not know why there were multiple rocket launchers being dropped off today, as well as several pirate swords, a compact pink taser, and a book of exploding paper. He didn't know what the common thread among all of those items was, besides "ridiculous," so he simply decided to set up a window display labeled "Miscellaneous."

Oh, Fandom. You were a weird town.

Returning to Fandom made the vulnerable place between her shoulder blades itch. Not that it showed, because with everything, everything, Ino was locked down and practically barricaded behind her Turk persona.

In hindsight, that probably wasn't the best reaction. Not for her, nor for him.

"We've arrived," she reported to Tseng, her voice chilly, then shut her PHS and took a moment to just breathe. She probably should have stayed on the line for further orders. Ino decided she didn't give a damn. He could cope with a little insubordination given the circumstances.

The park was so green. It was almost dizzying after the endless greys and blacks and darkness of Midgar.

They should probably go find a set of rooms at the hotel, at least until she found them a more secure location.

But, given circumstances, she was disinclined to force Zack to move on very quickly. If the green was shocking to her then it had to be moreso for him. Her throat tightened and she swallowed but said nothing.

Zack wasn't saying anything either. )

It was almost as if the DJ had heard Allie's conversation with Jono the previous evening. He was playing a collection of classic women rockers. No one could find that objectionable.

Allie settled in to listen and work her way through the next level of candy crush.

Dinah had gotten in very late last night, which mean two things: 1) she hadn't heard Radio yet, and 2) she'd left a handwavey voicemail for Priestly before collapsing in 'Dite's suite.

So now she had a chocolate-chip muffin, a chai tea, and reason to wonder why the J,GoB workers seemed to be acting out a Telemundo soap opera. With subtitles.

[ooc: expecting a couple, but totally open.]

Was Ron aware of the current invasion?

No. That would involve listening to radio, and radio was a worse violation of personal privacy than PRISM. In fact, Ron was currently trying to determine whether or not it was being funded by 1) local government (in which case he would cut the funding immediately) or 2) the NSA, in which case... well, he'd find a way to deal with the NSA.

This was America, damn it.

No, Ron wasn't aware of any 'fangirls'. Ron was eating. He had a bacon burger that had his name on it - literally - and another three waiting to be eaten as soon as this one had been disposed of.

Mmm. Bacon. Burger. No lettuce.

Priestly was feeling a little bit . . . odd today. Nothing he could quite put his finger on, but his temper was definitely shorter than usual, especially with the kitchen staff.

"Really?" Priestly picked a shrimp out of the seafood paella the cook had whipped up and flicked it across the room. "Everything in here is overcooked. Are you an idiot? You can't even handle a dish like paella?" The busboy opened his mouth, probably to point out that, well, paella was pretty damn hard to make properly, but Priestly silenced him with a glance. "You! Go stand in the corner."

"But --"

"Corner! Go! I'm just going to have to do this myself!"

Today's specials
Cauliflower souffle with brown butter
Salmon Wellington
Cronuts

Luke's was open. But, really, with that attitude, it wouldn't be any wonder if he was on the losing end of any love triangles.

[and OCD free, she said belatedly.]

It was business as usual for Sparkle's shift at Dite's, today. There was a new shipment of lube in. Sparkle had spent a chunk of the morning killing time by doing a tango with the rooster. There were gremlins trying on lingerie in the dressing room.

Business as usual. Yup.

Anakin normally was better at holding things together than right now, but something called to him today, something that made him --

fight Georgetown traffic
no one wants to read about the traffic omg
there has to be SOMETHING explaining how he got there
says who?

--show up randomly on the beach to brood prettily against a rock, a single perfect tear rolling down his face.

"Anakin."

Oh, for the loss of innocence! And stuff!

There was a stripper pole on the stage at Caritas. Nope, Mike had no idea where it had come from. He also took forever to realize it was there. Or maybe to realize he should've been surprised to see it from the corner of his eye. Hey, he'd spent a lot of time in various strip joints back in Tampa. It seemed like a perfectly ordinary object to him! Bar-appropriate!

Tino was eyeing the pole a lot more varily.

Especially after Mike threatened to show off moves a lady stripper friend had tried to teach him once.
