Gert was in a grumpy mood today and it seemed to be showing on her face, since the cooks immediately offered to make her anything she wanted. She wasn't all that hungry, though she appreciated the gesture, but by the time afternoon and the specials board rolled around, Gert thought she maybe would have benefitted from stating a preference.

TODAY'S SPECIALS
Slow-cooked stuffed cabbage with beef or fish
Onion pizza
The smell was... distinctive.

Jack didn't know what to make of the fact the club smelled so strongly of roses when he got in today, when there were no flowers anywhere to be found. (And he checked everywhere, down to the waste bins in the restrooms. Twice.) It didn't help that Tiny and the DJ said they had no idea what he meant.

About an hour after he got to work, the scent faded away. Jack devoted himself to sorting through the paperwork and put the mysterious smell out of his mind as some side effect of the coming full moon, his trip to Emma's, or a simple wolfy quirk.

Isaac didn't really actually need an excuse to take Isabelle out, but having one was a nice buffer for their whatever-the-hell-the-term-was kids called casual dating these days. So thanks for being a complete and utter douchebag, Chuck.

"Don't judge me if I order half the menu," Isaac said to Isabelle. "The full moon's this week."

It was sort of like PMS in the way that it made Isaac slightly grumpy and caused him to eat everything in sight.

[For the date! Up early for timezones and, you know, because I felt like it]

It was warm enough today for Celia to feel comfortable in spending some time outdoors. She'd bundled herself up appropriately, of course -- even if it was temperate for winter, she still didn't want to catch a chill -- and found herself wandering down to the beach. It had been entirely too long since she'd truly seen the ocean.

Ostensibly, her purpose had been to come out here just to walk -- a bit of fresh air always did her good, and she suspected they wouldn't see temperatures this comfortable for some time. (It was, after all, only January, much though it felt like spring.) However, within a few moments of arriving, her mind began to wander, and her lack of significant practice began to niggle at the back of her mind.

It didn't take long before Celia's hat, gloves and handbag were nestled firmly in the sand at her feet, and she was watching through narrowed eyes as a castle began to form up out of the sand before her. A flick of her fingers added a turret, and she paused before a moat dug itself around it, as well.

This was much more fun than what she would be doing at home. This wasn't work. This was as natural as breathing.

[totally, totally open, whoo!]

Kenzi had had the weirdest dream last night... although she couldn't remember it all. Something about a dance. A rose.

That guy from Galaxy Quest? WTF.

So tonight she was going easy on the specials.

Specials
Tell me your worst nightmare, get a shot.

"What's your most expensive drink?" Speed Demon asked the barista. "Because I'll have a large of that and you'll get an extra tip if you just go ahead and add some of this." He handed over a flask and a twenty dollar bill. "It's a celebratory night, but I also need some coffee. Been a long day."

After about half a minute he added, "There's extra money in it if you hurry it up already."

Another ten seconds, "Fine, no deal. You'll be lucky if I even pay for it."

Five seconds, "What do you mean I have to pay first? That's unfair. This is America."

It was kind of amazing that this guy was patient enough to rob a bank a couple hundred miles away earlier today.

[OOC: Open for any of your evening coffee drinking!]

Éponine knew that not everyone's holiday packages had made it to their destinations on time. There had been a slow but steady trickle of delayed parcels coming through the post office ever since Christmas, and she was accustomed to it by now. This did not, however, mean that she was prepared for the literal avalanche of packages in various shapes and sizes, some with postmarks dating back to mid-November, that spilled out of the sorting room as soon as she opened the door.

With a sigh, she resigned herself to picking through the pile to figure out what needed to go out for delivery today, and in the process try not to wonder too much about how some of those packages had acquired funny-shaped dents, glowing green stains, or what looked like teeth marks.
