After seeing so many of the Meerkats at the dance yesterday, Buffy thought it was time for a proper reunion. So she had handwavily texted everyone, and was hoping the ones on the island would be able to make it.

This being Fandom she had now spent the last ten minutes clearing an area around a nice pink tree so it was free of zombie gremlins. It looked like a good place to hold the reunion. The tree seemed friendly, insofar trees could seem friendly. She'd brought blankets to sit on, and had placed them down on the ground, close to the tree. Buffy gave the tree a little pat. "There!" she said. "I hope they all show up. And won't get bitten by gremlins on the way..."

She thought the zombie gremlins were starting to get the point though. They seemed much less interested in her now. She'd brought enough stakes for everybody anyway, so that should be fine.

[OOC: Mainly for the Meerkats, but I suppose if any Stickbugs are around and want to crash the reunion for old times sake...]

Look, Jake was a detective. He was, actually, reasonably observant (if we weren't talking about people's feelings, those he was bad at figuring out). So the recent influx of people had definitely not gone unnoticed. Nor had the reasoning that if there were more people than normal, probably at least one of them had ended up in the jail at some point. So here he was, going over intake paperwork and- yep. There it was. Along with outgoing paperwork not even half an hour later.

Okay. Whatever. There was no one in the cells currently, though, so Jake was just going to sign off on the paperwork and get the whole story out of Jessica later, hopefully.

[ooc: open station is open, though with SP from me as i will be pinging from work!]

For some, the weekend spent on the island had been quieter than for others. It wasn't that Algren wasn't interested in getting out there and fighting zombie gremlins (though there was some Fandom-related trauma there that had involved both zombies and gremlins, once upon a time, that he didn't care to revisit), and it wasn't even that he hadn't wanted to see if he could find any familiar faces at the various dances and parties and gatherings that had been going on across the island.

No, mostly it was that he'd just opted to reacquaint himself with the quieter aspects of Fandom. A walk along the beach, or through the preserve, right around dawn or dusk. That sort of thing.

This morning, it was the park. He had a thermos of tea - and yes, he had absolutely gone out to buy a thermos for the occasion, using money he still had inexplicably left over in the bank here from his tenure on the island - and was seated on the grass, watching the ducks swim and the flamingos... be flamingos, whatever that entailed.

There might also have been a sword resting on the grass beside him, serving as a silent warning to any gremlins that might get any ideas. Yes, Fandom, Nathan Algren remembered you well enough, even after being gone for a few years.

[OOC: I had to get him out somewhere this weekend! Open park is open!]

It was the last day of the reunion and Jessica figured she needed to take a moment alone. Get some solitude, a place to be with her thoughts for a little bit, in a quiet place. The beach would work. Have some white noise from the water, what could possibly be more relaxing.

When she got there, food was already on the grill, the volleyball net was set up, and a pig was sitting next to a spit, eating from a trough. There had to be a story there. And wait, who started grilling food on a beach only to leave it, and a pig? If this was Fandom magic, it was really weird Fandom magic.

Anyway, alone-time apparently wasn't happening. She could settle for some BBQ as long as she avoided anything that might have come from that pig's family.

The Impromptu Labor Day Beach Cookout was on!

Peter hadn't even originally planned to come to this reunion in the first place, but the timing had been fortuitous; he'd needed a break, somewhere to unwind. Emotionally, that was. He was still hard at work, and had been hard at work all through every party and attack of insanity that had occurred yesterday.

Which was why he could be found here this morning, idly using one hand to occasionally ferry a pastry to his face while the other one was firmly placed on his tablet. He had emails to write, and a Portalocity connection home to set up.

If anyone had spotted black fox running about yesterday, chasing gremlins and generally looking like it was having the time of his life, yep, that had been Ezra.

He was back to being a guy today. And he felt he had more than earned the hot chocolate monstrosity in front of him on this fine morning. As well as his pre-class lounging at a table at the Perk just in general. Also he thought of it as making himself available. So really, it was like a public service.

... Mostly he was distracting the barista with idle flirty glances.

[ooc: Open post, for your Ezra-bothering and other Perk needs!]

"We mutiny!" Rikku announced, pumping her fist into the air. "Against ... um. Against anything we don't like! And for the things we do like!"

Okay, so Room 12 of the Arms Hotel -- Rikku, Gwen Cooper, Yzma, and one of the two Buffy Summerses -- had had rather a lot of liquor last night (not that it took much liquor to get Rikku tipsy, but that was hardly the point) and with all of those sane, rational people in one room, with the bonus of liquor spurring them along, the brilliant idea had been birthed: that they should absolutely have some kind of a Naked Mutiny. Against ... erm ... something. Maybe clothing?! The details had been fuzzy.

Not that everyone was naked! Rikku herself was rocking several beaded necklaces on top, and a tool belt on the bottom. But, you know, not everyone could be as brave as Yzma, who was truly a sight to behold. A lot.

This was going to end very poorly for all involved. That was sort of a given, right?

(Fellow roomies were modded with permission. Anyone is welcome to pop in and join the chaos, which is headed to ... maybe a warehouse, for graffiti-related purposes? They have not exactly thought this through, so who knows where they'll actually end up. Major SP in effect for time zone insanity! Please wait for minor OCD!)

Sparkle wasn't completely certain why he'd come back to the clothing store to clean up today after all of yesterday's... gremlin... messiness. But there was marinara sauce on the door, and a lot of the racks had been toppled over, and sticky gremlin muck was smeared across the floor, and it had just... bothered Sparkle, he supposed, to leave it that way. Probably since he'd worked here for so long back when he was still a student on the island.

Besides, he still had his key. And nobody was in working today to protest him just sort of showing up and filling a bucket and grabbing a rag to scrub things down, so... here he was.

Cleaning this place that he totally didn't work at.

Like... somebody who worked here. Or something.

He was probably just going to suck it up before the day was through and admit that he had kind of adopted the place as his own, but for the time being, he was just, you know, casually cleaning a business he had no current ties to at all. Totally normal Labour Day activity, that.

Right?

[OOC: Open! ... Denial is a huge part of Sparkle's modus operandi, really.]

"Okay," Tamsin said, "Does anyone have any idea who the giant metal-armed guy was who just walked straight into my office?" Beat. "Actually, I want to know who let the giant metal-armed guy walk straight into my office?"

Bright Eyes smiled up at her. It looked faintly desperate. "Mayor Summers, ma'am. Uh-- the former Mayor Summers."

There was a long pause.

"Did I just kick the one guy who knows how any of these stupid systems work out of my office?"

Bright Eyes shrugged, maintaining her feverishly bright smile. "I'm not sure you kicked him out as much as he just vanished through a door I forgot we had."

"...I have a headache," Tamsin said. She pinched the bridge of her nose. "Whatever, island."

Sometime mid-afternoon on Monday, with Cody down for a nap, Zach closed the door to the bathroom in the hotel (the better for a little bit of privacy, and to keep from waking his nephew), and pulled out his phone.

He called the house number, first, and the wait until it started to ring seemed infinitely longer than he'd ever waited before, just long enough for his heart to stop beating, or so it felt. One ring, a second, a third, a fourth, and--

"Hey, it's Jeanne," his sister's recorded voice said. "You know what to do."

And that was the wrong answering machine message. )

And that was that.

Turning his phone off -- no point in having it on in the first place if everyone who'd have had the number didn't know he'd ever existed -- he left the bathroom and came over to sit in a chair beside the bed Cody was sleeping on. He'd take some time, watch Cody sleep, and try to figure out what was going to happen next.

[OOC: Expecting the current roommate, but also open if anyone wants to knock on a random person's door? Zach is more than happy to be distracted.

It wouldn't be me without some tl;dr post about my characters, right? ;)]

Well, after the early-morning whatever she'd done with Rikku and an extremely wrinkly older woman and a couple of other people, Dawn had decided maybe going to a beach party wasn't the best idea, tempting as it might be.

So, instead, she was walking around the pond with a bunch of birdseed, placing clumps in a circle as she eyed the waterfowl, trying to figure out how much she'd need.

"Duck. Duck. Duck. Duck. Duck..."

Ow. She felt a nip at her leg.

"Ow, okay, Swan!"

Then she resumed her actions.

"Duck. Duck. Duck. Duck."

It wasn't long before Dawn was running on the grass, followed by many waterfowl in search of birdseed.

"Dammit, I said didn't say goose!"

Clearly, they didn't know the rules.

There was an enormous tray of birthday cake martinis on the bar when Jack got in today. He waited until no one was looking, then slurped one down. It was sickly sweet but not bad at all.

He wasn't sure how many of the guests were still around, but he figured anyone who'd made it to this point in the long weekend deserved a treat. Which was why the sign in front of the club read:

Do you like birthday cake? Do you like martinis? Try this intriguing combination today!

Evan... didn't want to go back.

He'd kind of forgotten just how easily this place could become home, and he'd known but he'd never fully realized just how much people hated... not just him, but everyone like him, back in his own world. He hadn't lasted long there before, when he'd been sent here to give him a chance to sort of breathe, and then he'd been called back, and...

He reached for a stick and threw it, and a dog and a small dinosaur both went racing off after it.

It wasn't just that he was hated, though. He was lonely. He missed his friends. He missed... he missed a lot of people.

Maybe if he just played here a little longer, and pretended as though everything was going to stay just like this forever, and ignored it, it would go away on its own.

"It's not, is it? Going to just fix itself?"

That was meant to be kind of rhetorical.

[OOC: Open! There are swings! Yay swings!]
