Zack was kind of staring in horror at a creature that one of the locals had brought in, secured, fortunately, in a pet carrier that latched from the outside, just out of said creature's reach.

"It's some kind of iguana, maybe," the person had said as they dropped it off. "Or maybe a cat with mange."

Zack failed to see how those two things could be even remotely similar until after the person had left and he found himself stuck with a perturbed-looking caged gremlin. Now he was having 'Well I'm not letting it go, you do it' arguments with the vet staff, who were having absolutely none of it. And Zack had never been one to pull rank, even in his SOLDIER days, so he wasn't going to point out that, technically, he was their boss.

So... the Gremlin kind of just sat there on the shelter counter, in the little kennel.

At least it seemed somewhat less outright aggressive if Zack fed it Beggin' Strips through the bars of the cage. So. He had that going for him.

"Man oh man," he muttered to himself. "Only on Fandom Island."

Or at the Gold Saucer back in his own world, but that was a totally different type of gremlin anyway.

Fandom Post Office, June 27 (Tuesday)

"No," Éponine was saying to the pair of ferrets sitting in the middle of the post office lobby, one of whom was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and the other a pair of sunglasses and a tiny camera around its neck, both of them with tiny suitcases on the floor beside them. "You aren't supposed to be on vacation until tomorrow, and you've a delivery to make today. Stay an extra day or two if you like, so long's you send word back that you are, but afterward, d'you see? You're still being paid to work today. Go straight off as soon as you're done with the deliveries, it makes no difference to me, but see that they get to where they ought to be first."

They gave her a particularly pleading look in unison, and she sighed.

"Leave your things here if that's what suits you, but I won't be responsible for anything that happens to them."

The ferrets seemed to find that a reasonable compromise, luckily, which meant that she could go back and clean up the trails of slime that the mail snails had left all over the back room, and hopefully get that over with early.

Covent Garden Flowers, Tuesday

Nathan was halfway certain that the note that Peter had left for him was coming from a place of concern that he was possibly abusing the plants. All on account of a pothos that was sulking because Nathan wouldn't let the thing smother him to death. He wrote a politely worded letter back to Peter explaining the importance of teaching one's creeping vine plants the value of respecting people's personal space, and then followed it up with a faintly bemused comment about how he was surprised he was being asked this now, rather than over that whole incident with the tiger jaws.

Then he got back to work, right up until he was interrupted from his tidying and watering by a pitcher plant who apparently wanted to play a game of baseball using fertilizer pellets.

"... How?"

The pitcher plant hadn't thought it through that far. Nathan just sighed and spent the next hour in a compromise, playing catch with it as well as was possible when a tiny carnivorous plant was throwing fertilizer beads around the shop.

Why was it so damn hot here? This seemed impossibly hot. Clearly some curse was going on here. Or he had been sent to hell to run a Fantasy Costco. Which also seemed plausible.

Shortly after he'd been escorted to the Sheriff's office last week, a Trooper had informed Liam of where there was available space for his shuttle to park that wasn't the middle of the... park.

Since then, he'd made it a part of his daily routine to stop in and check on the shuttle. Not that Liam particularly expected any tampering, since it seemed no one here was familiar enough with Taelon technology to do so, but get sent to an alternate universe due to engine sabotage once and it tended to make you a little wary.

So here he was, sitting in the pilot's chair and running through a standard set of pre-flight checks before moving on to ID core analysis.

Looking to see fireworks every day of the year?

Kathy was pleased with her current Fourth of July-themed displays. Most of the items she'd pulled were either red, white, or blue and now she was having fun crafting little fireworks out of strips of metallic paper and glue. Because who says that your local sex shop couldn't also be a haven for arts and crafts. And since the Hobby Lobby on the island sold birth control, she didn't have to feel bad for supporting it!

Also, it left her brain free to think more about the upcoming Mexico trip, so all in all, it was a good shift.
