rebelseekspizza: (dante pb - black and white)
[personal profile] rebelseekspizza
Okay, so Dante was starting to get used to the new place. Didn't mean he didn't kinda miss the walls of records, though.

But today, he was sitting behind the counter with a guitar over his knee, trying out some industrial-style riffs and loops. It kept his mind nice and busy, which he appreciated; occasionally he'd even write something down on a piece of paper.

The junkyard was hazardous today.

Not that the usual junk was any more precariously balanced or dangerous, but there were boxes scattered around it.

The first one Hera tried to relocate scattered feathers all over her. She was still finding them stuck to her clothes when the second one exploded with confetti.

Okay, fine. The island was being strange. Strange but benign.

When the third one exploded salt all over Chopper, it was less fun.

Now she was spending most of her day cleaning salt out of a grumpy droid. Island, you were On Her List for today.

Today was, if you asked Kanan, actually a pretty gorgeous one. Sure, there were a few clouds, but the weather was tolerable, there was even a nice little breeze. It wasn't pouring buckets of rain on his head or anything like that, though, if he was being entirely honest, he probably wouldn't have minded the rain so much. Anything to help get rid of the glitter that had exploded all over him when he went to investigate a strange box in his bathroom that morning while he was still damp from his morning shower.

Thanks for that, Fandom.

So he looked a little bit like he was ready for a Fandom dance today when he stepped outside and started glittering in the sunlight, but that wasn't going to stop him from heading to the park with his lightsaber to go through a few forms. Stance had accompanied him for the walk and was happily napping underneath one of the benches, and if he closed his eyes and just let the sun beat down on him, Kanan could fall into old patterns easily and ignore the fact that he looked like a walking light show, throwing off shades of blue whenever the light from his saber caught one of the rogue specks of glitter that he hadn't been able to wash away during his second, somewhat more cranky shower.

"Stay there."

Cara was behind the bar. Tino was standing on a marked cross away from anything breakable.

"Don't touch anything unless I tell you to."

This place had just gotten fixed, she was going to keep it that way.

Look, Liam had spent three years working security for some of the biggest targets on the planet, he knew better than to touch suspicious-looking boxes that just appeared. Especially ones that included labels like "ARM/DISARM" and "FIRE".

Ralph, on the other hand, was much more cavalier about such things.

"This is Fandom," he pointed out, as he reached for the FIRE switch. "It's probably just glitter."

And that's why the interior of Liam's office (and Liam himself, unfortunately) was currently coated in flour.

Jenkins was doing the books today at the Magic Box.

Unfortunately, this being an inherited magic shop and not a more traditional business meant that "doing the books" referred not to accounting, but to relocating the texts that had wandered off overnight and giving them a good talking to about behaving properly.

"Yes, I understand that the dewey decimal system is technically an arbitrary system of classification, but there is in fact no such thing as an unarbitrary classification system. We've made all of it up as we went along. Now, if you have some other reasonably logical manner in which to arrange yourselves, we might talk about a reorganization, but simply rearranging yourselves willy-nilly for funsies is neither charming nor effective with regards to customer service. If any of you have any hope of ever being sold and actually used for your intended purposes, I recommend you calm down and behave."

There was a moment of silence as the books continued to sit on their shelves, looking inanimate.

Jenkins nodded firmly. "I'm glad we had this little talk."

So the Merchant of Miracles had spent a good fifteen minutes considering the strange box with all the little switches and toggles and buttons that certainly wasn't there yesterday, wondering what he should do about it. Now, in his experience, it could either go one way or the other with these sorts of things: either it went very, very well or it went very, very badly. Knowing his luck, he doubted it was going to lead to anything like a shower of gold coins or the opening of a secret treasure trove deep in the bowels of the shop's non-existent basement, but...wouldn't he feel silly if that was the outcome and he hadn't even tried?

So he looked up with his brows raised in question at the coterie; Mr. Fancycakes, the Other One, and Apu all seemed to shrug noncommittally at the same time. Apu reached for a broom, and the Merchant nodded in resolve.

"Well, alright, then," he said, flipping one switch and then pausing dramatically before flipping the other, "here goes nuttin'."

No sooner had he pushed down the switch did the room inexplicably start to fill with the tiniest little blue bouncing bulbous creatures, hopping chaotically in all directions all around the store.

"Antwerps!" the Merchant cried out incredulously. "That's not even from the right game!"
