somethingwithturquoise: (doubtful summer is doubtful)
[personal profile] somethingwithturquoise
Tonight was kind of a big night because even though Summer wasn't planning on actually heading out until next Tuesday (there was no way she was hitting the star-dusted road right before everyone's weird and awkward guests for Parents' Weekend showed up!), it was her last night behind the bar at Caritas. That said, she was still a little surprised to come into the bar and find that someone had decorated it. Streamers, balloons, a banner that said 'Good-bye Summer!', and Tino caught right in the act of putting it up.

And Summer was touched. Flattered, even. Until Tino explained that, oh no, these decorations weren't for her, they were for him, he was celebrating because she finally got fired.

"I didn't get fired, you weirdo, I'm quitting," Summer informed him. "Because I'm moving out of the galaxy."

But, hey, if he wanted to sit there and pretend he, like, wasn't going to totally miss her or whatever, that was fine by her. She had sweet decorations for her last day now, and she wouldn't even have to clean it all up afterwards

Wednesday Jello Shot Special
It's my last day, y'all!
Free Jello Shots for Everyone!

Don't worry, Kitty. It was all definitely coming out of Summer's pocket. Or, well, technically, Shunsui's. Thanks, super weird business-related sugar daddy!

(Investor, Summer. The word you were looking for was Investor. You took a summer of community college business classes, you should know that).

Caritas is open!

If you weren't five minutes early, you were five minutes late, so Wayne figured if he wanted to be actually early, which he did, he should get to the Perk about fifteen minutes before the time set for his coffee and pastries date with Shuri. Fifteen minutes might have been a bit too early, though, he realized, after a few minutes of sitting there, but, on the bright side, it was still early enough that he could go outside and have a dart real quick and get back with plenty of time to spare to be five minutes early, which was, then, exactly right on time.

Hey, it made perfect sense in his head, anywhey, and that's what really mattered.

And as he waited (for an undetermined amount of time, as he didn't quite know where Shuri might fall on the whole 'five minutes' thing, but he s'posed he was likeleh to find out), he got to thinking about what kind of pastry he might like, which on the surface seemed a relatively simple and arbitrary choice, but, as it turned out, it was a surprisingly complex process, especially considering that, no matter which way you worked it, Canadian maple was always going to come out on top.

[[ Wayne's here to meet his daaa~ate, but the perk is open for all your perkly needs! ]]

There was an exceptional amount of lobsters in the store that day. Shunsui had thought maybe Summer-chan had gone a little overboard with her ordering since it was her last week and all and she did seem a little preoccupied with the idea that he'd be incapable of doing them himself (conveneniently forgetting the fact that he had been doing orders for this store just fine back when she was still in grade school), but that seemed a bit of an odd thing to stock up on. So he checked, and, sure enough, no lobsters on the order at all, because it wasn't like it was a hot selling item for them even on a good week, and when one of the lobsters came up to the counter with a few bills in one claw and a pack of shrimp chips in the other, Shunsui realized that all these lobsters had come in as customers.

They didn't buy much, really, but they were mostly keeping out of everyone's way, so Shunsui didn't mind.

And, hey, at least they weren't crabs.

Caduceus wasn't one for making an entrance. It wasn't his style, honestly. However it's not everyday that a seven foot tall man with grey fur and pink hair just flat out walked out of a wall and into a graveyard. While on fire.

Alas the only thing to witness this fiery appearance was a small squirrel. With a hat. And a notebook.

Caduceus was panting heavily as swatted himself several times, putting out the flames on his body and clothing. "Fjord? Jester? Twiggy? Beau?"

No response.

He took a second to look around. Nope. No one was here. And here was not a room with a dragon. This was not where he was a moment ago. Not at all. Looking down at the squirrel he gave the critter a small smile and waved. "Hello, friend. How are you?"

The squirrel who was more used to being shooed away seemed a little bit surprised and chittered something back which Caduceus didn't understand but did his best to interpret.

"Oh, I'm good thanks," he said taking a moment to channel some healing energies into his arm and then leaned down so he could talk a bit more personally with the squirrel. "Listen, I'm not exactly sure what happened here. Can you tell me where I am?"

The squirrel nodded slowly in understanding. Clearly a newbie to this place. The squirrel then began a long stream of chittering and notebook writing which surprisingly Caduceus could read. The chittering? Not so much.

"Oh. You write? That's different. Fandom... Huh. Okay. This wouldn't happen to be part of a happy fun ball would it?"

The squirrel just stared at him. "Yeah. Okay. I don't know either."

Caduceus pulled himself back up to his full height and once again surveyed the area before returning his attention to the squirrel.

"Thank you my little friend. I appreciate the information."

As the squirrel wandered off, Caduceus sat down near a tombstone and brought out some incense which he lit with his trusty tinderbox. As the smell reached his nostrils he began to clear his head and see if he could reach his patron for one simple question. As he felt the familiar warmth of his diety embrace him he simply asked one question. "Why am I here?"

There was a small chuckle in response. "Well... to help people of course."

That seemed to be enough for Caduceus. "All right then. Well. I better get right to it."

He looked around at the graveyard and shrugged a bit. "I guess there could be some improvements made here," he said to himself as he began to quietly tend to the nearest gravestone.

Jack was silent, lost in thought when she headed in to work. Tiny threw her the keys and she caught them just out of habit. Took inventory without much thinking about it and put the slip in the till. Idly noted that they'd been going through some of the better quality booze lately.

Tiny gave her a wary glance when she showed up to lean against the bar and a more pointed one in response to her cranky, "What?" Glowering, Jack shrugged at him, "Nothing's wrong, I'm just thinking." Another. Pointed. Glance. "Fuck off. I'mma go throw axes for awhile."

It gave her something to do and an excuse not to engage with Tiny. It also distracted her enough that she didn't notice the DJ had gone with a 90's boy band theme.

Probably good for them that she didn't notice.

[Devil's Nest is Open!]

[OOC squirrel note: When Sparkle starts talking legal stuff with both Jack and Kaidan, the squirrels have been bribed to ignore. Thank you!]

CW/TW: Child abuse (Sparkle's threads with Jack and Kaidan - the 'r' word is used in Kaidan's thread), violence, some gore talk, and some really terrible culinary abuses.
