It seemed that Apu was going through some very old backstock, because when you had a somehow bigger-on-the-inside storeroom, things tended to gather and sit and collect dust for a long, long time, meaning there were some older products that needed to be gotten rid of or some not so quickly moving stock items to be reorganized and even one beaten-up and dusty forgotten box of rolls of duct tape.
A lot of it had sort of a kitchy nostalgic vintage vibe to it, which definitely intrigued Astrid, especially the really early 20th century stuff (and, for the shits and giggles, some 90s stuff that even she could see were ridiculous at this point), but one thing in particular caught her attention and held on in a perverse way that she couldn't quite shake.
Because how do you just ignore a box of Chicken Dinner Candy?
She was morbidly curious and was definitely going to open up one of the boxes and slip one of the bars out to try it when Apu was busy in the back.
Never before had Astrid felt so confused as to whether or not she was disappointed or relieved that the candy was apparently not chicken dinner flavored as advertised but was mostly just chocolate and nuts. Obviously, chocolate and nuts was better, but she still felt betrayed. Lied to. Deceived.
But overall, it wasn't bad, for a piece of candy that was probably about a hundred years old.
