Veronica entered The Perk around eight on Thursday morning. She ordered herself a chai latte and grabbed a table in the corner for her interview with Jake.

Wondering why he'd thought getting up this early was a good idea, Jake entered the Perk in a sleepy shuffle. He got caffeinated and went to join V.

"Good morning," she said, smiling up at him. "Thanks for meeting me. We'll just jump right in since you have class. When did you first realize you were a mutant?"

Jake sipped his coffee before answering. "I think I've always known. There are mutants who don't know what they are until puberty when their powers or whatever manifest, but I've always been able to... talk... to my cells. That's what makes me all mutant-y, by the way. I can sort of talk to my cells and tell them what to do. "

[ooc: So we had to pre-play this via email b/c of time zone & availability issues and we didn't quite finish, but I needed the log in game so V can write her newspaper article this week. Jake's player is afk until Saturday I believe and I'm heading to work, so feel free to use this post for your own Perk threads, but unfortunately, neither of them will be available for interaction.]

After a mostly uneventful evening yesterday and a quiet trudge through the snow this morning, Lilah typed up an e-mail.

When Tex opens up the shop, there are no traces of what happened during the night left on her armour. The M6D is tucked away in its holster, still out of ammo. She doesn't make a move to open the supply room, though. As she flips the sign on the door to open, she notices the bratty duck with teeth sitting with two of its friends outside. She wonders if the duck can breathe fire too. She likes her enemies crispy.

((Shop lay out and supplies can be found here.))

"Jack! Where the frell are you?" Ivanova hollered as she jogged up to the shop after leaving the bookstore, then paused. "I've been in Fandom too long," she muttered to herself, before taking the more expedient method of jumping over the counter rather than using the door. Her backpack thumped into the chair and she poked her head into the Back. "Jack? Ja - Whoa." She blinked at the sight of Jack, welding mask in place, building . . . something. She wasn't exactly sure what it was, but there were sticky-out bits and wooden joints and what looked like three seperate small engines. She very quietly - he hadn't noticed her yet - backed out into the shop, shook her head firmly, and settled into the comfortable chair. She briefly considered doing her homework, but instead reached into her bag and, after glancing around to make sure she wouldn't be discovered, pulled out a copy of Wife With Amnesia and began reading.

Lorne seems to be in a huffy mood this afternoon as he opens Caritas. No one knows for sure what happened last night after Spider drank his fourth serving of the Pylean special, but Lorne doesn't appear to be too happy about it."

But there is no glitter to be found and all the fish in the aquarium seem to be accounted for.

The zombie band is ready to take your request.

Shep and Han are heading for the Perk, where Lana is waiting for them.

"So... Lana and I had quite the little talk after our discussion in study hall yesterday."
[identity profile] luridpinkspikes.livejournal.com
The shoppe was open, as per the norm.
[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com
Lana sat at a booth near the back, looking a little nervous, and clearly waiting for someone. Or maybe two someones.

[Open for other people to use for their Perk threads.]

Chewbacca has added jinglebells to his bandolier and a sprig of holly to his pouch in addition to the santa hat.

He gets the pub together and starts a player of Christmas music. Rowdy stuff, like Flogging Molly and the Klingon version of Jingle Bells.

In an almost unprecedented move, Zhaan was open again. Perched neatly on her stool, gaze unfocused as she sketched the Sanctity root of long-ago Delvia. There were touches she added, inspired by her own and by the years seperating her last views of the root from the present.

The radio was tuned to a mellow station, the occasional Christmas song playing.

The bank has been quiet all day again, as Salmoneus catches up on his sleep. There's a new sign on the door, however. It says:

The Bank has been closed due to the sudden death of family members. It will be re-opening Monday, December 12th. Thank you for your patience and my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Finally, as the sun starts to set, the front door opens and Salmoneus appears on the porch. He's dressed in his robe, with a hat and a somewhat raggedy fur coat. Fluffy appears as well, staying very close to Salmoneus. Her feathers have a somewhat wet and bedraggled look to them.

"I'm glad we did your bath indoors," he tells her. "You needed one, and I think it's just a touch cold for a dip in the pond. Even if I do need to wipe everything down now." He shivers. "It's colder here than it was in ..." His voice trails off and he stops, sitting on the bench near the door. The Harpy drops down next to him, her head against his legs.

Looking out over the town, Salmoneus spends a few minutes in quiet contemplation. Then he smiles to himself, almost as if he has a secret.

"Things are going to change, Fluffy." The smile widens as his hand drops onto the Harpy's head. "Things are certainly going to change."
