Jamie opens up Empire and puts on the best of Trini Lopez on the store stereo system.

Unfortunately now he has the lyrics to "Lemon Tree" stuck in his head and it won't go away.

It was hot, Conner had a lot on his mind, and he'd been chased down the stairs this morning by a small horde of slinkies on his way to class. So in an attempt to cool off and think things over, he was sitting at a table in the Perk with a very large iced mocha and his laptop, absently browsing the Web. In between the various soccer video clips he was watching on YouTube, he'd glance out the window intermittently, as if expecting one of the slinkies to have suddenly become gigantic and attempt to stomp down the island.

. . . what? He'd seen weirder things grow to town-stomping proportions before.

[OOC: Open for your caffeiney needs. Bother the boy if you'd like, too. I'm bored, and I have my own spiffy and super-fast work computer back now instead of the slow loaner, huzzah!]

Barbossa was eating an apple.

Noisily.

And near the microphone.

What a joy for everyone listening.

"Afternoon, Fandom!" he said. "This be Wine, Wenches 'n Song 'n I be Barbossa. Which ye be knowin', o' course. This be the time where I be playin' yer requests 'n dedication-type music if it be not John Tesh, Yanni or 'Freebird.' I also be here t' help ye wit' yer love lives. The phone lines be open. Bother me."

He flipped on The Clean Song with a grin and began humming along.

Mermaid music was awesome.

Jane arrived in due time for her first day on the job at what is, as far as she can tell, the general store.

Baldrick had pointed out where various departments are and how to figure out how much to charge for various items if it happens to be something that she doesn't know what it is.

Which could be a good three quarters of the store.

She has absolutely no idea where anything that isn't booze, lava lamps, silly puddy, or shampoo is. But she's happy to help you if she can.

She's not sleeping... Really.

All and Sundries is open.

Veronica showed up at work and was grateful to find the AC on full blast. This heat and humidity were insane and she hoped that the weather broke soon.

She checked the band, made sure there was plenty of ice in stock and opened for business.

[*flails* I'm leaving in less than 24 hours for my trip and I haven't even started packing. And I have to work tomorrow. *flails more* I may be slow tonight.]

The bell over the door jingled as Molly opened the door to enter the shop. The girl behind the counter had on her biggest smile as she waited for her new customers to approach.

"I swear this place wasn't here yesterday," she said over her shoulder to Dawn. "I had to settle for a lemonade at The Perk."

[[OOC: The ice cream shop/juice bar/smoothie bar is open!]]

Ranma decided it was a nice night to take Mizu out on a long walk. He always felt like he could empty his head better that way. And for once, he sure had a lot to empty. He took a long looping circuit around the island, hoping he didn't see anyone.

Clad in her bathing suit, sarong tied around her waist, Natalie paused to look out over the dimmed horizon. It was different, going to the beach at night -- the quiet, the stillness, the promise of moonlight rippling along the surface of the water. She sighed, looking around. At least I don't have to worry about crowds, she thought.

Shaking her head, she placed her things onto the sand and began to settle in. The oversized beach towel came out of her tote bag, along with the two citronella lanterns she had brought. While she could see in the dark just fine, it was probably best to maintain some semblance of, well, mortal behavior. She lit the internal candles very carefully, then stretched out on the beach towel. Listening to the waves as they lapped along the shore, she started reading. She stayed there for a while, taking periodic breaks to swim in the channel.

For today's Friday Event, the park had been transformed. There were booths, rides, games, concessions stands, and festive music all around. Even the ducks were carrying balloons

This was the Fandom Summer Carnival. And boy, was it festive.

[OOC: THE CARNIVAL IS OPEN TO ALL. And, yep, weather-modding. It's still warm, about 90 degrees F, but none of the isolated thunderstorms listed in [livejournal.com profile] fh_weather. Business owners, employees, or NPCs can man the business booths. Please don't ping into PC business threads until someone is there. NPC businesses, booths, and games are free to mod.

Also, there are a few places (*looks at Tunnel of Love and The Sin booth*) with the potential for dirtiness in this post. Remember the rules about posting in a community: keep it clean in the comm. Handwaving, FTB, and taking it to someplace private are your friends.]
