"Look at my fingers. They're turning blue. Do you think I have frostbite, Gunther?" asked Hoshi.

Gunther rolled his eyes and said something rude in German. He forgot who he was dealing with, though, and when Hoshi responded to his insults, he slunk away to the kitchen.

Geoffrey had unlocked the door and was, at the moment, trying to make sure he could buy food for the week.

Food that specifically wasn't cup noodles.

...ahh, the glamorous life of the theatre.

[ooc: Geoffrey will only be available until 3ish EST as I'm going to be heading out on a trip. The Boards can be open all day as people would like to use the space, but any Geoffrey thread will go into SP as said. More details in an availability post that will go up later in the day]

They were in Antartica. He'd already explored some of the area-- next week, he might have to look up a few research stations, provided they were still roughly in the same locations as they were back home.

Antartica also, however, meant something else; and while the Open sign was on the door during the morning, Cable seemed generally more preoccupied with balancing weapons and contemplating some of the guns than he was with the actual operations of the store.

[ open! ]

Millie was thoroughly delighted by the dancing penguins and allowed them the full run of the store.

Jamie had done the enterprising thing and gone into storage to pull out some more of the warmer winter/fall clothing to bring up to the front of the store.

Apu stared at him in shock the entire time.

"What? I do actual work."

Apu continued to stare in shock.

"From time to time."

Yep. He's still staring.

"Oh, shut up."

Cal was pretty comfortable in this sort of weather; considering the location, it was unnaturally warm, but it was the weather he was used to, for the most part, so he enjoyed the walk over to the diner and, once he got there, settled in to mostly just lean on the counter and drink coffee, and maybe, occasionally, clean up a bit. He did try his hand at the artistic convention of scribbling notes on napkins, but not only did he find that he had run his creative juices practically dry yesterday, but that napkins were utter crap to write on. More trouble than they were worth. So he just stuck with the coffee and waited for his shift to be over.

Apple Freakin' Pie.

It had been a (blessedly) quiet week. For once Cassandra walked into the cafe knowing precisely what she wanted to put up as the daily special, and she didn't even bother consulting with the kitchen staff (a decision she'd likely regret).

Today's Specials
Hot Cocoa

Fortunately the weather was almost cool enough to justify her craving for a thick and rich beverage. She sat quietly at a table near the door sipping a mug.

There was dancing in the church. Dancing penguins to be precise. The church was full of them. The aisle had turned into a dance floor while in front of the altar there was a large penguin gospel choir. The pews were full of jumping, clapping and singing penguins. Never had the otherwise very peaceful church seen this many visitors, though it was unclear whether they worshipped the divine or whether they just liked the acoustics of the building.

Gabriel sat perched on a roof beam. At least the critters couldn't fly.

Cat was nowhere to be seen.

Then the choir started singing about space travel.

[The church is open]

Ami opened the store. It was the day before a holiday, and she hoped no one wanted to purchase anything explosive.

Eve? Was bored. Very bored. Which probably explained why she was bustling around the reception area and tidying up like a madwoman.

Hey, it was better than some things she could be doing! And she'd already spent an hour wandering around in the exhibit. And before that, she'd written a handwavy letter to the boyfriend.

[Wait for the OCD is up!]

Savannah was sitting cross-legged on the counter of the store. She was dressed in what was probably best described as a "ski bunny" outfit. What? She was cold!

The entire shop had been rearranged and god knows how long it might take Sean to put everything back this time.

She had her sketch pad and she was drawing penguins in snow suits... in between tapping an envelope against her leg.

As she had promised Isabel, she had written the letter, but would she deliver it?

Nast's was open.

Lucas was bored. His ball polisher - no the ball polisher was still off getting fixed at the shop.

To get over his boredom, Lucas busied himself taking a play through the course to make sure everything was working the way it was supposed to.

Wonders was open!

So, camping in the Antarctic, while interesting and a once-in-a-lifetime experience, was something Robin would not be repeating. She had never missed her shower more -- not because it was an especially dirty experience, but because it was warm.

As a result, she'd decided to run a special on hot drinks tonight, and was experimenting with different things she could put in hot chocolate and coffee.

[I am running to the library REALLY QUICKLY, but I'll be back...probably before 8 EST, or right around then. Mod Tino if you need something RIGHT THIS SECOND ZOMG.]

Overnight, there had been a sudden cold snap which froze the pond, creating a slick, glassy surface, just perfect for ice skating (and skates were handwavily available nearby).

One end of it was already filled with wee dancing penguins. It's okay, they're happy to share the ice.

The sun was up, making for a bright yet cool day, and the ice showed no inclination to melt.
