After the phone weirdness of yesterday Triela wasn't sure she wanted to go to work where she had to answer the phone. Because, really, you never knew.

Then, of course, she'd realized just where she worked. It'd be par for the course.

Just for a change of pace, after she finished feeding the fish, Triela decided to look around. She hadn't done it yet, which she realized was pretty careless of her.

"..." she said as she opened the closet. "There's... a man in the closet." How had she not noticed this before?

The caffeine had won out. Jack had stood there with both hands out, weighing the cold versus caffeine. It was a close call. His hands were so cold he ordered a large coffee and a large hot chocolate just to warm them up. Any minute now, the feeling in his feet would return. Until then, he was taking his time at a table, just enjoying the morning.

Ender had caught onto the phone stuff pretty quickly, although not quickly enough: he didn't want to think about where his messages had gone. He hadn't answered the last one, because by then he'd realised the messages weren't meant for him.

He was never going to ask Hannibal about what he'd meant with his message. In part because he could figure it out, and in part because he really didn't want to think about it.

So he set up shop quietly and early and busied himself with Stark's satellite, wiping the phone problems from his mind.

Romeo was surprised to find a last message on his voicemail in the morning, and he quickly called Reno back to try to set things straight.

Then he went about the shop to make sure everything seemed to be in order and settled behind the counter with L'uomo Vogue. There were some spring fashions he wanted to order.

[OOC: Open store, no OCD!]

Worf was in an extra irritated mood this morning due to the phone calls, which made him even more anal about how the store was organized. Anything that appeared to be a millimeter out of place was met with a irritated growl and a good deal of fussing until it was absolutely right.

When the store was organized Worf stood behind the counter and resisted the urge to have his data padd do a recursive search on Rumor Gal spoilers.

Teddy was going to spend a very long day hiding among the comics today. Far, far away from any damn phones. And he never did get to have sushi with Chad...

The island just liked messing with people too much.

There had been a great many strange calls received at the station that weekend; Daisy had been entering them into the computer for records' sake before going through and trying to encrypt where they had come from. It was the damnedest thing, really. She'd known by now that some calls were being redirected all day yesterday, which would explain a lot of the ones they received that would have constituted as pranks and therefor she wanted to track because that was illegal, but she discovered that she'd never seen phone calls so incredibly impossible to trace. Damnedest thing, and the attempts to break the code had her practically riveted to her computer most of her shift, even if, at this point, if she broke it, it wouldn't mean much.

Chad came into work, ready to make sure that everything was all neat and orderly today. As he worked, he realized he had the strangest craving for sushi, and couldn't explain why.

...God, he hoped that craving didn't have anything to do with potential pregnancy.

Groovy Tunes is open!

Poor kitchen staff. On top of having to listen to Lacey spazzing at them about how in the world she'd managed to get herself saddled with that awful cranky girl on a weekly basis, and how she should have known the squirrels hadn't really decided to be nice to her after all, they had to hear her incredibly disjointed recollection of a dream she'd had about a drunken donkey with a bad leg, which they were sure would have been funny if anyone other than Lacey had told the story.

(They had never heard Hank Yarbo try to tell a story, obviously.)

They were staying well out of her way today. Oh, look, conveniently complicated specials that would keep them busy!

Today's Specials
French-Fry Coated Bacon on a Stick
Seven-Layer Dip and Chips
Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts available!

Lacey, for her part, was bustling around the diner relieving her frayed nerves with a frenzied bout of cleaning.

Luke's is open, and at this rate you'll be able to eat off the floor. Not that Lacey would let you.

Mina had settled on forgetting the distressing nature of yesterday, though she wrote a report to her superiors about the obviously unreliable nature of modern technology.

For today, she settled herself in the park, by all accounts seeming to be there to enjoy a little picnic lunch and a book. In reality, she was observing people as the went by. She had much to discover, still.

[ooc: Very open!]

Joan arrived at the shop after her class and immediately set about making a red, white & blue sign for the shop in honor of the inauguration.

Seregil unlocked the door of the Book Haven and set up things before settling down with parchment and quill and a bottle of ink to write a letter to Nysander. Sure, he could've used the more convenient versions that existed on the island, but sometimes one just wanted to go with what one was most familiar with.

The Book Haven was open.

Yesterday had only been slightly confusing. After Madrox's message, which was really just par for the course for Madrox, three others had followed.

While he was pretty sure there was a logical explanation that involved the island being the island, he had to confess he now knew way more about the lives of certain people than he'd really wanted to.

"What do you mean, how's Weasel? What, do you expect me to be the mind reader now?"

"I'll take that," he said, and was suddenly incredibly grateful he'd put off matters more important than Gazprom until today.

Sokka... wasn't entirely sure what had happened with the phones, yesterday. It was very disturbing, that was for sure.

All the same, when he got into work today he decided to actually bite the bullet and buy himself a cell phone. Phones were good for calling Mel.

He also put a sign in the window:

Alex had no idea what the heck was going on with the phones yesterday or why anyone would think there was something wrong with New York.

She opened up the shop, amusing herself by surfing the wizard web for some new things. Hmm, maybe a new wand was in order.

The Magic Box was open!

Everyone in the bar was mumbling and feeling pretty irritated about the massive influx of strange phone messages left the previous day. After a couple of years of this Arashi should have been used to it, but the messages yesterday topped any that he’d received before.

The one about handcuffing someone to a bench had been a bit much.

He wasn’t checking any messages the bar had received.

He’d leave those ones for the Zombies to return.

Arashi hung a sign in the window as he opened and headed back behind the bar.

Drinks buy one

For those still trying to make sense of their phone messages!

Bender was late in to work - taking the time to do a little strategic rewinding from the weekend.

He picked up a bale of wire and headed for the paddock, starting to check the fencing for repairs. Getting a jolt of cool, clear electricity was just a bonus.
