MHA Lobby, Tuesday

The last time Loki had been at work, the power had been out and it had been fucking cold as shit. This time, it was still chilly but the power was on and the lobby was warm. He had no snow to shovel (thank fuck) and his good mood from the previous days had carried over till today.

He was almost feeling pleasant and that was a fucking scary thing to realize. He wiped the smile off his face and just picked something to glower at. That something turned out to be the surface of the desk in front of him. When he realized he was glowering at the fucking desk, he shook his head and hopped up on the desk, magazine in his lap.

He could glower at the magazine. Or something. Or start smiling again.

Fuck.

[MHA is open for the business!]

Hinata had to admit that after yesterday’s talk with Dinah she was making sure to cover the script, especially the parts where her character and Dinah’s overlapped more thoroughly than she might have otherwise done so early in the rehearsal process. But, she figured, that could only be a good thing.

All the better to know it, of course. And it wasn’t as if her studying interrupted her work at all.

Book Haven is Open.

Ino? Was in a brilliant mood after yesterday. Even as she sipped heavily honeyed tea to try and ward off that pesky mildly sore throat that been yesterday’s present to her. Whatever, right? She’d had fun, and was humming as she went and checked out that everything was neatly organized for Valentine’s Day.

And, alright, wondering if she could snowball people again before the end of winter. Shhhh.

"Ah-hah! Hello, peasants!" Because anyone working in a kitchen was a peasant. They just were.

"I have come to rule over this diner of Luke's this day!" His sleeves seemed oddly puffier. "Take heed of my presence and all shall be well!"

The kitchen staff stared.

"Indeed! It is true! Lacey of Luke's Diner has given me this job so that I may purchase goods! You shall find me a competent and fair ruler but-" he held up his hand "-if I learn that any of you are in league with the evil hag that took my Giselle, I shall have to dispatch you at once!"

A beat.

"Now, there is something about a menu, yes? Ah-hah! Never fear! Just show me where to write this menu so that others may partake of the fiiiiine fare this place provides!"

Specials of the Day!
Beef!
Pork!
Duck!
Pheasant!
Ogre!
Blackberry Pie!

The kitcen staff just stared.

Luke's is open!

Unlike most days, Temari wasn't at the front desk. No, today she was in the meditation room, trying to do just that.

It wasn't working as well as she would like.

Can't get no relief. Such an odd thing to have stuck in her head and keeping her from being able to meditate.

Geoffrey opened up the theatre this morning with a bright smile on his face and a song in his heart.

He wasn't sure which song it was, but it sort of went 'do do do do doo wah' in that annoying, can't-remember-the-lyrics sort of way. It was cheerful, but really, he needed coffee.

[ocd up!]

It didn't take long for Lion-o and Snarf to realize that something weird was going on with the staff. The plates were all lined up on one side of the restaurant, the spoons and forks lined up on the other side, and the cheese grater was trying to negotiate between both sides.

That left Lion-o to wait on tables and Snarf to run the kitchen. While things were a bit more frantic than normal, they managed to get through the day without help from the agitated staff.

Adam opened up the store, having stopped for coffee along the way. He was in need of some caffeine.

He restocked some of the shelves and settled behind the counter.

Mary was trying to go through a bunch of documents that her lawyer in Las Vegas sent her. But none of it really made any sense, and her mind kept wandering, and Gunther kept distracting her with silly questions. She was thrilled to get through the first five pages, until she realized it had taken her hours and she had 45 more pages to go.

Aravis still wasn't particularly thrilled with the cold, though she had welcomed the use of candles last week.

Truth be told, though, she was grateful for the magic electrical light having come back by now, since she suspected this shift would be much colder and darker that way.

Pepper, honestly, was kind of still waiting for the fallout from those flowers she'd sent. She hadn't exactly approved of it, and the last thing she needed was Tony getting in romantic trouble with someone who could do more than babble to the tabloids or throw the flowers at his head or something.

So, she was just a little anxious as she worked today, though she was keeping her mind off of it. It wasn't really her problem, anyway.

No, Tyler wasn't still pissed off about Tony, or the flowers, or about the fact Tony hadn't even called yet. That would require he cared. Tyler didn't care.

Really.

If he was hitting a punching bag so hard he could almost hear it say uncle, and eyeing the rest of the gym in hopes someone would look worth sparring, that wasn't to work out stress. That was just fun.

[OOC: Open gym but he's not in the best mood.]

"You are not chilled, are you Priest?" Prince Edward asked of his companion. Ah, and how lucky was he to have such a good friend. First to come and see him at work, and then wish to accompany him into the woods to search for his Giselle!

So Edward asked for him to come along. Totally not the point.

What joy!

[For [info]lovemykilt! Ah-Hah! But the woods, they are public, so if you've need of them, they are there!]

"If I eat anymore cheeseburgers today, I'm gonna throw up," Marshall told Tino. He held up a White Castle burger. "But I can't stop. They're so delicious."

Marshall didn't really know the meaning of self-control.

It had been way too long since Angela had done Thai, and the fact Hannibal had never had it made this a great choice as far as she was concerned. Could have done without the walk through the freezing cold to get to the place, but even then she didn't really care all that much she couldn't really feel her face and hands.

You might get the impression she was looking forward to tonight.

"I still can't believe you've never had this," she said. "So deprived."

[[Angela's there with Hannibal, obviously, but it's a public place and open for whatever Thai food needs people might have!]]

First thing Katchoo did when she got to work, after dropping her backpack off behind the register, was to head out to the sidewalk and have a smoke; on her way over she'd gotten caught up in thinking about that $850,000, which had led to a fleeting curiosity over what had happened to Senator Chalmers, which in turn led to a thought about how many DUCks Darcy might have in D.C. these days, so . . . a smoke seemed like the thing to do.

A few minutes later, after counting the till and realizing she should've had eleven singles in there instead of ten, it was right back out for another smoke.

It was going to be one of those days, wasn't it?

[OOC: "Subterranean Homesick Blues" bizarrely butchered for the sake of the weekly prompt.]
