"Ladies! Gentlemen. Boys. Girls. Other sentient life forms." Someone had given Tyler sugar. "Welcome to Fight Club. I'm Tyler Durden, this is Ghanima Atreides. We're in charge."

"Which is the nice way of saying 'welcome to Fandom,'" Ghanima injected dryly. "You're here because you saw a poster, or heard through a friend, and you want to hit things. We support violence therapy."

"Most weeks," Tyler said, "we do assigned matches. This week is different. This week is introductions -- because you haven't said your names enough yet this week -- and some level testing. Introductions don't have to be fancy. Fight Club is not about your life story. Tell us what you like to be called and how long you've been at this and we'll call it good."

"After which, those of you that are new or trying to move from beginner to advanced can show us your moves, while the rest of you grab a friend to beat up," Ghanima continued cheerfully. "Once we've seen you in action, then our new friends can also hit the mats, and proceed to learn how we make friends and influence people here at Fight Club. I'll give you a hint; it usually involves bruises."

"But first, you all have to listen to the rules."

Tyler pulled out a sheet of paper and read them off. "Hopefully those are all clear, if you do not understand ask somebody. If you still do not understand, consider the possible tragedy of head damage and don't fight."

He glanced to Ghanima. "Anything else?"

"These rules are posted on the door for every Fight Club meeting," she said pleasantly. "Anyone who willfully ignores these rules gets bounced out that door. We are here to fight, not babysit you."

"Now, smile, and introduce yourselves, and let's see what you can do."

[OOC: Introductions are for everyone, please. Current classifications are here.]

Irulan entered the shop and stopped to take in her shop. Someone had gone out of their way to decorate the Imperial Brim.

"How festive," Irulan remarked. Some of the decorations even complemented her hats, Irulan was happy to let the decorations stay.

Zack was still humming and hugging yesterday's bouquet of flowers as he made his way into Fina, yes. He'd spent a few years in Midgar. Flowers were a big deal.

The dishes gave him a somewhat withering look as he came in and announced that he quite possibly had a secret admirer. When Zack asked them why, they explained that they'd all gotten flowers yesterday.

Today's Specials:
Have a secret crush? Talk to us about it and get 50% off of gift-boxed cake!

"You know what this means, right?" Zack was smiling. Broadly. The dishes looked at him warily. "This means we ALL have secret admirers!"

Collective groan.

[Fina is open!]

The Gig, Sunday

The regular shifts at the Gig had also been one of those things Firekeeper had missed during her time away. She and Blind Seer arrived with apples for each of the horses, and spent some time just chatting with them before moving out to the paddock like usual.

Firekeeper settled against the fence in her regular spot as she watched the horses. The Gig is open!

Really, Ben only came to the store today to do two things. First, to put up a sign saying "CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND!" and second to grab some used lawn furniture that he had spotted last week. If he was going to spend the rest of the weekend lounging, he needed a chair that was better for it than the one he had on his balcony right now.

[OOC: No OCD because it's not an open post! Why yes, I do think I'm funny.]

Kyle had lost his key to the FPHQ. In order to find it, he needed to search three levels of the hotel, eventually find it on the roof, use the Force to convince a pigeon to retrieve it from its hiding place, and then race to the HQ before time ran out and he was late to his shift.

He made it, but it was close.

[OOC: Why, yes, it's a cheap joke about how illogically placed keys are in Kyle's video games. And I do, in fact, still think I'm funny.

I'll be spotty until around 3:30 eastern, and then I'll be just plain afk until much later this evening.]

Soon enough it would be time to secure the skiff for the winter. But as long as the weather was still good, Tully was going to get all the use out of it he could.

He set a cooler with drinks behind one of the seats, and double checked everything. He was all ready to go. All he needed now was his date? passenger.

Biff was behind the counter with a plate of maple-glazed bacon and a party hat from yesterday.

He looked super-festive!

...and no, he won't be sharing that bacon.

Wellspring Arms was open!

The flowers were gone, except for the two vases Aphrodite had purchased on Thursday from Dinah. They still appeared fresh and beautiful, and their fragance, flowery with a hint of chocolate, had spread through the store.

Hercules was out and about. His fascination with the fishbowl remained, though he had broadened his horizons. So far this afternoon Aphrodite had had to repair a leather coat the kitten had climbed up, rescued several boxes he'd nudged from a shelf, and then rescued the frightened cat when he accidentally turned on a vibrator, which began edging toward him as it vibrated on the shelf. Hercules had jumped backwards and found himself hanging from the shelf edge by a claw.

But now he was tired, and curled up on one of the chairs, watching the circling fish from a distance. Aphrodite could only imagine what he was planning.

"I should have named you Iolaus."

The goddess was currently enjoying the cat's nap by following up on her research. Jung. But she found she wasn't liking him any better than Freud. "Morpheus, this is all your fault."

Dite's Decadent Delights is open.

(ooc: Open store, open post, like an open book.)

An excellent week. Excellent performances at the play, despite incipient nervous breakdowns, and a very, very profitable and satisfying theft brought off in New York. Hopefully the next play and next caper would go as well.

Last day for her exhibit of Susan Seddon Boulet: Goddesses and Shamans.

The gallery door is open, there is lemonade and iced tea on the sideboard, and sugar cookies on a plate.

Tonight, Robin was conducting an experiment.

She'd gotten some glue, some staples, duct tape, and any number of other adhesives, and was sitting down with the zombie drummer, as his arm had fallen off three times during her last shift.

She thought this was really very kind of her.

[I have RL stuff going on tonight, so I'm around until like 7:30 or 8, I think? Unless you don't mind a thread that might go into some severe SP, Tino-modding might be the name of the game. :D]

As it seemed there would be nothing out of the ordinary raining down from the skies or popping out of closets today, Kate had ventured out of the dorms and into town, where she’d headed straight for the Perk.

The person behind the counter gave her a slightly frightened look when she came to order coffee. The staff wasn’t going to forget how they’d once tried to tell her they wouldn’t serve her any more. She had nearly had to wrestle one of them for that gigantic takeaway cup.

This time, however, she was a much more pleasant customer, and got what she wanted without any fighting. She then took a seat by a table near the door, so she could watch the people coming in while she sipped on her coffee.

So many new faces. So many new fresh minds. So many who hadn't yet been terrorized by walking spots.

Yes, G'Kar was looking forward to meeting them all. To this end, he had placed a sign in the window.

Free Squishy Day!
Come check out your friendly local shop and get a free squishy!

Apu, of course, was just going through his usual routine of cleaning, organizing and restocking.

It was going to be a good day.

Lacey was still considering Kyle's suggestion of renaming the diner. To this end, there was a sign on the counter, next to the cash register, placed prominently behind two large trays full of tiny pies.

Is it time for a name change for the diner?
Buy an apple pie for Yes, a cherry pie for No!

There was a flaw in this voting system. Quite possibly everyone but Lacey could see it.

. . . and maybe the dishwasher and busboy, who were engaged in a heated debate over whether a time canoe would be cooler than a time machine. Lacey wasn't going to ask. She was just going to make sure that one booth was cleaned and all ready for the expected weekly arrival of the Weetiny Boys' Club.

Today's Specials
Roasted Tri-Tip Au Jus, On a French Roll
Prosciutto, Arugula, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, and Mozzarella on Pretzel Bread
Tofu and Couscous Salad
Laura Secord Chocolates

Now Hiring -- See Manager For Details!
Several Shifts Available.

Luke's is open, and in some extremely vague way, Lacey can't help but feel that things are very historical. Just don't ask her why, or how. She doesn't know.
