Finding there was little actual work to be done after 9am, Dimitri sent Jessi off to clean mats and took over her spot at the front desk. Standing awkwardly in front of the computer screen, he hunted and pecked at the keyboard to track down the information on local apartments that he would need if moving was actually going to happen before the end of the month.

Absorbed in his task, the over-sized manager was as botherable as ever, yet still not likely to be successfully startled.

[OCD was out late with the band!]

Katchoo's mood, as she opened the store today, managed to be simultaneously better and more grim than it had been yesterday. For the second she blamed pretty much the last couple of days but more immediately the class she'd just had.

For the first she mostly blamed Arthur. Emphasis on the word choice of 'blame' there.

However well-placed or not that might be, she was at least managing to sketch today, even if the page she was filling up consisted of a largely abstract design, all sharp angles and abrupt turns and heavy shading with the softest charcoals. The poor counter was going to be a mess by lunchtime, at this rate.

See, this was why there was a sink and that industrial-strength Goop soap in back.

[OOC: I'm trying to make the OCD stay home and tend to my stoves in Cafe World. Post is of course open, or will be once I get back online in about an hour.]

Maron was putting up a few more cobwebs in honor of Halloween—there could never be too many decorations, after all---and after that was went to idly browse the costumes. She didn't really know if she wanted to dress up or not, but there was no harm in checking it all out, right?

Definitely right.

The music was moody and loud and definately not in english, and Jon? Well, he was looking through a gun magazine.

The store is open though.

It was a very cheerful Annja who was at work today. She enjoyed her classes this week, but she was still pretty ecstatic from homecoming and what had happened after the dance. She didn't feel bad at all that she and Sean hadn't left his rooms all weekend. As far as she was concerned, it had been the perfect weekend.

She was sitting behind the counter with the computer, placing orders for herbs and other fall/winter type items she thought people would be interested in purchasing.

Tara was reasonably cheerful as she opened the Magic Box today and started putting together a Samhain window display. (She'd been reading after she talked to Merlin yesterday.) Apples, nuts, pumpkins, mirrors, unlit torches ...

And maybe a few black cats and broomsticks, just because people would expect them.

The Magic Box was open, and full of Halloween supplies for real witches.

Jack idly flipped through a Russian grammar as he waited at a table by the window, stirring whipped cream into his mocha. He had coffee with Emma often enough, but Jack didn't need to be trained as a detective since childhood to know this had not been a good week for a lot of people on the island; he only needed eyes.

As such, he was very attentive as he scanned the street for his friend.

[OOC: For the telepath, but open coffee shop!]

Vida was very very displeased.

She had a notice about an order for delivery waiting for her that morning, but was surprised to find the tattered remains of another order with it. She followed the trail of paper scraps out back, where she found a goat casually chewing on an order form. "Frank!" she said, clutching her pearls. "Bad goat! Bad! You ate an order?"

She made a grab for the remains of the order (goat slobber, ewwww). "Shoo! Shoo! You better get out of here or there will be goat on the menu for dinner tonight, I promise."

Frank the Goat gave her a baleful look and wandered off.

The first two deliveries are accompanied by a note from Vida explaining that a goat had somehow eaten the order, and she was terribly apologetic about the lateness of the delivery. The goat responsible had been sacked.

Tony still hadn't figured out any magic that would replace sets, so he was at the theatre this afternoon, going through the old flats, figuring out what could be reused, what needed to be repaired and making a list of what would have to be built.

A couple of times, he thought he heard something skittering around in the flies, but when he went up there with a flashlight, he couldn't find anything. Probably something outside on the roof.

[Open theatre is open!]

Coffee and inventory sheets. Today was a day for coffee, and a day for inventory sheets, and nothing on God's green earth was going to pry Algren away from the first while he dutifully went over the second to make absolutely certain that... Well, that nothing had changed in the counts since the last time he'd done the Wellspring's inventory.

Someday, he might actually get sick of all of that counting. That day was probably very far off, so long as there was still coffee in the world to keep him going.

Book Haven was open and Millie was rearranging shelves. Which meant that anyone walking in might see a number of books levitating across the store to various places.

Helen was at the Gig. She talked to the horses as she worked, telling them about all the things she was worried and concerned about. The horses were surprisingly good listeners, especially Kally, who would nudge her sympathetically.

The Gig was open, even if Helen was a bit distracted.

After getting Porthos settled with a toy, Hoshi decided to use the front desk computer for a little bit of research on recipes. However, she couldn't figure out why there were bookmarks to things like FarmVille, FishWorld, Happy Aquarium, Café World, Bejeweled Blitz...

"Gunther, if I wasn't here, you wouldn't be getting any work done!" Hoshi yelled towards the kitchen.

The kitchen staff was apparently feeling uninspired today, as they had absolutely nothing to say about the fact that Priestly had his order form tucked into his mohawk again.

Either that, or they were plotting something.

Was it paranoia when you had a good reason to suspect people were against you?

Castiel was back to his usual, stoic, ungremlin bit self, this week. Anyone expecting any sort of apology for his behavior the week before, however, would be waiting a long time.

Instead, he gave the congregation a long, hard look, cleared his throat, and began to speak.

"This Saturday," he said, "is Halloween."

Well, this was sure to be interesting.

The Dia de los Muertos art was still up, but now Sophie had added some black streamers and cut-outs to the windows and doors, along with a jack-o-lantern outside. Mixing the traditions, but why not.

Cider, hot chocolate and coffee were on the sideboard.

In the past, Loki hadn't been one to celebrate holidays. He'd been too busy doing fuck all in Wisconsin. Halloween, though, had always been an exception to the rule. During past Halloweens, he and Bartleby had wandered around various neighborhoods and egged houses, stolen candy and just generally caused trouble. It had been one of the best times of Loki's otherwise miserable eternal existence.

Because of this enjoyment, the MHA lobby was very liberally decorated in Halloween decorations. The main lights were and were replaced by orange lights, giving the lobby an eerie orange glow. Various other decorations were spread all over the lobby. Hell, Loki even had a lot of fucking candy. Loki himself was lounging behind the desk, feet up and magazine open on his lap.

He was actually in a good fucking mood today. Imagine that.

When he got to work, Jack idly looked through the racks of clothes, wondering if he wanted to grab a Halloween costume. He eventually realized that 90% of the costumes were for women, and 100% were much, much skimpier than he'd ever wear in public. If he was going to get a costume this year, a sex shop was probably the wrong place to look.

So instead he settled in behind the counter, and started reading through a Playboy. For the articles. Yes, really.

Jennifer arrived at work on time unlike the post and got everything sorted and in order.

She could be found doing online research in between games of Bejeweled Blitz.

Such a hard worker, that Jennifer Walters.

Zack had picked up Jen from work, and they'd embarked on their all important second date.

That meant ice cream.

So they went to Chilly Boulder, and were face with a scary prospect:

Ordering.

"What do I want?" Jen asked.

Ben generally didn't drink. But when you were coming up on the dual anniversary of your death and rebirth, well, sometimes you needed a drink. Or several. And sometimes that meant you were the grumpy guy at the bar who grunted and made Tino do the real work.

So, that's what Ben was doing tonight.

[OOC: I'm around! But Ben's not in the greatest mood. Mod Tino unless you want to deal with a grump.]

Lia was recently employed but reveled in the fact that Tully was kind enough to offer her the job. She spent a good little while just dusting things and arranging them just so before settling behind the store's counter and waiting on customers.

The Lighthouse was open and while she wasn't up to giving tours (yet), anyone looking to purchase souvenirs would be well served.
