Jane had intended to stop by at the local general store to pick up just a few things, and she wound up with far more than she bargained for it.

It all started with the fact that there was a panda in the cheese aisle. Such a thing was undeniably intriguing and so Jane quite forgot about her grocery shopping and had to ask the man sweeping the floor about the bear. He answered her with a bit of a sigh, and he explained about the cheese and the owner of the shop who seemed to care to do nothing about it, and Jane wound up following the poor shopclerk around with her notebook open, her pencil ready, and filled with questions about the habitat and habits of this intriguing cheese panda. Eventually, the man (Apu was his name, Jane had gathered) must have realized he wasn't getting rid of Jane any time soon, and started to pass along tasks to her, which she happily went about, so long as she could continue to ask him questions. And, eventually, she found herself behind the counter, cheerfully ringing up customers in between jotting notes.

And really, Apu thought the best thing that happened that day was Shunsui not coming in to open the place, because he preferred Jane's company far more, even if she didn't seem to ever shut up.

The waves lapped at the shoreline.

It was a chilly sort of beautiful, Genesis decided, gazing out over the ocean. The sand and snow under his feet crunched with each step. And yet the ocean was unfrozen. He doubted it ever did freeze entirely.

Was there a cold strong enough to do that?

The wind moved briskly, stirring his hair and setting his coat aflutter and Genesis stood, arms crossed and looking over the ocean. He wondered if the ocean had ever felt heartbreak. That would be enough to turn it to ice entirely.

He shook his head, amused at his folly. Well and good enough, he was being foolish. There was time for that, however, as he waited.

[He’s expecting one, but totes open!]

Now that the holidays were over, Roy could get back to his usual schedule, and back to making some money. It was kind of nice that things were back to normal on the island...or as normal as they ever got. He had a voicemail box full of weird messages he still hadn't dealt with. He at least needed to talk to Karla to find out if there were actually rumors about him being bicurious (not that he particularly cared, except for that if there were rumors about him in general, he kind of wanted to know). And he should probably find out at some point who it was that he was supposed to have seen in their bra, because he thought he would have remembered that. But all of that could wait for when he was not on company time. Company time was for filing, and research, and Spider Solitaire.

Cabot & Associates is open for all your legal and Roy-bothering needs.

It didn't matter that Jaina had been through phone weirdness more than once before. Considering most of her messages had centered around the sex shop, paying for sex, roleplaying, or how cursing wouldn't get her dates, she listened to Thursday's radio broadcast twice fully expecting something really horrible to have been said about her to get that kind of theme going. Nothing bad was said, of course, which was almost disappointing. Yesterday had been frustrating, and she kind of wished someone could pay for it. Oh well.

That didn't mean she still wasn't trying to ignore her comlink while she was working tonight. She had no idea if whatever caused Fandom's phones to go haywire affected the comlink she used to call home, and she knew she had messages waiting for her from there. If there had been calls from any family members of friends or colleagues of any sort from home waiting for her continuing the theme... she couldn't handle that two days in a row. She'd just keep on working and pretend her comlink didn't occasionally go off.

Today's Showing!

Yes, there was a Disney movie playing at the theater today. Which made it the best time for a vampire and a ranger to attempt a date. Oh yeah, that was a recipe for a good time.

Just as long as any of the NPC ushers didn't try to take away the thermos of coffee a certain someone had brought along. Soda was in no way a suitable replacement. Nor was popcorn. Because that ended up getting stuck in fangs and no one wanted to deal with that.

Maladicta gave the sign a wary look before turning toward the doors. "That is a truly unfortunate name."

[[For that guy, but the theater is open for your needs as well]]

Last night had been ... rough, at least, the news had been rough, but talking things out with Reno, that part had been good. Really good. Maybe she should actually try that more often. Like, you know, a normal person.

It wasn't her day at the shop, but she'd missed her day at the shop, so she was stopping in, anyway, to make sure everything was okay and tinker with a few of the projects. There was something really soothing about axle grease, if you were an Al Bhed girl.

So... Squall had showed up at Rinoa's door at 7:55, wearing his dress uniform, and carrying a half-dozen white roses. Rinoa had been wearing a nice dress he hadn't seen before, and had liked the flowers, so that was good, right?

They'd made it all the way to the restaurant, and everything seemed to be going well so far. Squall was nervous, though -- he'd never been on an actual date, before. "Is... This is all right, right? You'd tell me if I got something wrong?"

(For the other person on the daaaaaate, although there are plenty of open tables if anyone else is hungry.)
