Dwight was normally a fairly patient guy. He was used to waiting for things and even being told when and where he could have or do certain things, thanks to his military experience. But waiting for the call from Sakaki? Waiting to hear if the paperwork for the adoption had been approved? That had been a level of anticipation he had not known for some time! So, when the call had finally come in early that morning, Dwight had naturally been awake and wasted no time getting over to the shelter.

It had been a handwavey busy morning already getting everything back to the apartment and getting things just right for the new pup, which now officially had the name of Snoopy. Downstairs in the shop, Dwight was setting up a small pen area in the corner of the shop, so Snoopy had a safe place to play and rest when he was down in the shop working. Because one thing had become crystal clear to Dwight almost as soon as he had gotten the bundle of furry energy home- Snoopy wanted to be a close to him as possible. While the pup was still excitedly sniffing around and exploring the entire workshop, including the small pile of sawdust, he would still run back to Dwight often, as if making sure he wasn’t going anywhere.

So it was, if anyone stopped in that morning, they would likely have found Dwight putting around the shop and an adorable beagle pup not too far away. And a yet undiscovered delivery of Coca-Cola Classic in old fashioned glass bottles sitting at the end of the counter.

Well, it was the most wonderful time of the year again! If by wonderful, you actually meant horrible and somewhat terrifying and make Troy actually glad he grew up in a weird religious cult that didn't celebrate Christmas because surprise! It was actually the worst!

Although, he had to admit, while last year had left his fairly traumatized about the whole thing, so far it...wasn't too bad? Like, there were polar bears handing him soda, and he did like soda, and it almost felt like kind of a peace offering? To make up for last year? But he was also a little reluctant to trust it. Oh, he'd still take the soda and drink the crap out of those sodas, Coke was delicious, especially in those old-timey glass bottles and stuff, but he wasn't about to let his guard down yet, that was for sure!

But so far, it had just been those dolls yesterday and the polar bears today, and that wasn't a bad start, even though the song the doll had been singing was definitely stuck in his head, so, as he was unloading new merch into the racks and shelves, he was singing it under his breath a little and giving it a more modern spin.

Did he have any idea what the words actually meant? Of course not.

But if anyone did speak Romanian, they would likely be pretty shocked by what was coming out of this poor, clueless kid's mouth right now.

Inspired by her conversation at the bar with Seivarden early in the week, Amaya had been working on a few more things for the shop, trying to get a good head-start on some of the more...controversial things that usually came along with December. She was trying to remember what else there was, besides the accursed mistletoe, to worry about, and she knew she had plenty of things that would help with inflatables should they attack again, snowmen she'd been prepared for for years, roving string lights were a little trickier, but she figured a good set of armored boots for crushing would work great. So she had lots of idea and suggestions and things to make available, which included, of course, a new sandwich board to be set outside the door to draw people into the shop:

Defend Yourself Against December!
With Blackstone Foundry & Forge!

Flamethrowers! Materia-enchanced Weapons! Big Sticks with Pointy Things!

Everything you'll need to keep you and yours safe
this Holiday Season!

Inquire inside TODAY!

After giving it a moment to read over it again and nod with satisfied pride at the results, Amaya headed back into the shop to get back to work on a few things that may or may not wind up as Christmas gifts to certain people in a few weeks down the lines now. A few bears wandered in from the street, which was an intriguing prospect until she realized they were just there to offer up some of those sodas, which she gladly took with thanks, because it was hot work in front of the forge, and those drinks were mighty refreshing. The bears didn't stick around for too long, though, because it could get mighty warm in the workshop with said forge, much too warm for polar bears and all that fur, but at least one of them stuck around long enough to hear her pitch on armor for bears and the right to bear arms (*da-da-ching*) before politely declining and making its exit.

The Forge is open!

You know what? When life handed you Coca-Cola, make...a new recipeh.

While Ignis himself was not a fan of such sugary, soda-y beverages, he and his comrades had been blessed with many bottles of the stuff since arriving back on the island earlier that day, to the point where it seemed rather wasteful not to do something with them, even if the source for said bottles were a little...unconventional. Inspired by their unexpected bounty, then, he did some reworking of his plans for class that evening, arranged for a few different ingredients, and began with a line of his unexpectedly gained ingredients lined up on his station as the class would find several on theirs as well.

No doubt having more than a few of their own to contribute, as well, he suspected.

"Sometimes," he started, his eyes roving over the bottles before them, "one can find inspiring uses for unconventional ingredients and put them to surprisingly good use in unexpected ways. Take, for example, the fact that our cups runneth over, it would seem, by the generosity of very large bears, and we have more than enough beverages to satiate our thirst for quite some time. And you may be surprised to discover that this can actually be used as an ingredient in a surprising way, using the caramely sweetness and relatively easy to work with liquid form to bring some rather delictible dishes to the table. This is not at all what I had planned for today, but let this be a lesson also in taking advantage of a bounty when one has one.

"Our recipes today, then," Ignis finally concluded, "will be a pulled pork that will take advantage of our instant pots, a barbecued chicken that will take advantage of a slow-cooker so that one might prepared it in the morning and enjoy after a long day of hard work or other tasks, and finally, a cake to satisfy even the most demanding sweet tooth. Let's begin."

Laszlo certainly wasn't sure what these fluffy white creatures outside had to do with anything, but he was wildly disappointed that somewhere along the line, Coca Cola appeared to have dropped cocaine from their recipe.

Not that Laszlo could enjoy it either way, but certainly his camera crew would have been appreciative!

Specials:
Regular Human Beer

A deeply normal special, Laszlo felt! And one of the few drinks he could manage without Tino's assistance, not that he minded having it.

The bears, as if summoned by last night's conversation about them, had appeared all over the island this morning and Stark had acquired an armload of Coke bottles by the time he reached the bakery.

"You're not supposed to bring in outside food and drink," the man behind the counter called out when Stark opened the door. Stark started to protest and was met with laughter. "Nah, I'm kidding, you can't tell a polar bear no when it wants you to have soda, right? You need a bag? We got some nice canvas ones with the logo. Fit a lot of bottles. We checked. And we, uh, we got a lot of Coke desserts. Or breakfasts, we don't judge here. What're you in the mood for?"

There were multiple types of cupcakes.
A pound cake.
Empanadas.
Fudge.
Poke cake.
Brownies.
Cookies.

All sorts of sweets with polar bear-provided sodas mixed in.

That was how Stark ended up with 2 JGoB branded tote bags. The second one was in case of more bears on his way back to the apartment. He also, of course, brought an assortment of those Coca-Cola desserts back to his table with him.

He was starting with one of the peanut butter frosted cupcakes while he looked at photos of ugly Christmas sweaters on his phone. He still did not understand the sweaters but he was willing to play along tomorrow.

[I have lots of availability today due to my school being closed due to a gas leak (this school year is such a dumpster fire) and when life gives you gas leaks, you make posts? That is not a saying. Neither is when bears give you soda, make dessert. And yet. This post is very open for your baked good, polar bear soda, or alien needs! I'm very around!]

There were polar bears drinking in his bar.

Eric wished he was more surprised by that.

"Set them up with rums and Cokes," he told Tiny, "and don't take 'but I don't have pockets' as a reason not to charge them for it."

The Devil's Nest was open! Eric was in his leather pants, but it seemed a little chilly for shirtlessness today.

"Yep," Duke patted the polar bear on the back. "Thanks, bud."

It didn't matter how long he lived here; he didn't think he'd ever get over a polar bear walking up, giving him a hug, and handing him a bottle of coke.

At least the paint-stripping power of the soda might finally rid him of the ghost of Summer's crab salad shots Lucifer had brought home last night. . . .

Was it seasonal? No. Did Duke care? Also no.

“Seriously, how many bottles of coke can a person need?”

What was it about the scent of bath bombs that attracted these fucking downy demons? “Is it the patchouli?” Margo asked, taking her seventh bottle of Coke Zero of the day as she raised her eyebrows at the bear. “Are bears secretly hippies or something?”

The bear growled happily and paced past her, towards the bath section.

“No getting into the bath salts!” she yelled after it. “I’m not cleaning up your shit!”

Bears. Seriously.

Seivarden stepped outside and closed the door behind her. She looked up and there is was. The bear. The bear held out a coke for her.

"Oh, fuck off!" she snapped.

The bear didn't seem offended and just trod off, but immediately after another one appeared further down the street, waving to Seivarden.

"FUCK OFF!" she shouted to the second bear. It waved again, but offered the bottle it was carrying to someone else walking past.

"Aatr's tits," she muttered to herself. "I've had enough of this."

Perhaps her conversation with Summer had influenced her more than she had thought, because when she pulled out her phone and texted Tisarwat it didn't feel like a rash or sudden decision.

She turned back and opened the door again, then slammed it shut behind her.

Yesterday Liz had handwavily had a singing doll appear, that she hadn’t worked out what language it had been singing but Rain had been rather fascinated and kept playing with it and Liz now had a lot of photos of as a result, which she was sorting through now.

So she wondered if anything was going to happen today and she got her answer straight away in the form of a polar bear who came into the store and automatically Liz went to take a photo. The polar bear walked up to the counter and handed Liz a bottle of soda and then left.

She blinked and stared down at the bottle in her hand. She was pretty sure the polar bears had been around back when she was a student. So it seemed that nothing had changed in that regard.

Well she had wanted a distraction from thinking about the party tomorrow, it just wasn’t the kind that she had been expecting and she now also had a photo of a polar bear holding a bottle of soda, which was certainly not something that she ever thought she’d be adding to her photos.
