The chef's uniform was no longer as fresh-looking as it was on Monday, but Gunther was still waiting for Bobby Flay and his date with destiny. He busied himself chopping lots of apples since that was a key ingredient in his henri sauce. Towards the end of the day, he conceded that he should have read the whole e-mail in the first place.

But wait, wasn't there some big event at the hotel this weekend? Something that Mary had gone on and on about before she left? Of course! Bobby Flay wouldn't come here on an ordinary weekday. He'd wait until there was a crowd. "Benito!" Gunther shouted at the sous chef who was not named Benito. "Help me set up ze mobile cooking station. I will be performing cooking demos all day tomorrow!"

[No OCD today. I will be at the beach watching all the surfer boys and nowhere near the laptop, so please mod the crazy chef.]

Turtle and Canary, Thursday

Sokka arrived on time and set up for his shift. ...Actually, he didn't. He arrived several hours early, to try and see if he could get there before Apu. Yeah, not gonna happen.

So, there Sokka was, behind the counter, half-asleep. And if Apu was looking smug? Totally your imagination.

Later in the afternoon, he fell asleep on his Squishy and had to clean it up.

After getting orbed over to get her car and bring it back to the island, Isabel was only a few minutes late opening the store.

Those in the vicinity lacking an insatiable appetite for percussion may want to have earphones, but Groovy Tunes is open.

After the events of previous weeks, Cable was busier than ever, hesitating momentarily before he slapped the Open sign on the door.

He settled in the meditation room with the laptop, working quietly.

Tom's new employee, Makoto, had already let him know that he wouldn't be there for his usual Thursday shift, so Tom dutifully came to set up everything himself. His enthusiasm had yet to dampen much, if at all... unfortunately, his bounciness led him to accidentally knock a container full of red peppers riiiight into the tomato sauce.

So it was a sheepish Tom that posted the menu board.

Don't ask why Yitzhak was reading Elizabethan plays today. He just happened to have a stack of them on the counter beside him today, and couldn't be bothered to look up. Unless, quite possibly, you threatened to go to his apartment and do something horrible to his wigs.

Then it was on.

But for now, at least the kitchen staff was grateful to be left alone.

When Robin arrived at work in a remarkably good mood and opened the bar, settling behind it with a beer, she'd gotten a dirty look from Tino.

And she hadn't even mentioned the part where she needed him to cover her shift in a couple weeks. Huh.

The Arms Hotel Lobby, Friday [2/1]

Thanks to Mary's advanced planning, the staff of the Arms Hotel ran like a well-oiled machine. Gunther was front and center today, greeting MercCon participants while anxiously watching for Bobby Flay and the crew from the Food Network. In the meantime, he had a mobile cook-top station set up in the middle of the lobby, whipping up some of his specialties so he'd be ready when Bobby arrived.
