Gaspode was sitting under an overhang near the causeway, worrying at a bone. He'd gotten most of the meat off it, but it was a big bone, sure to have plenty of sweet marrow inside, and he was determined to crack it open. The old jaw wasn't what it used to be, though.

Still, it's not like he had anything to do today. He just sat, and gnawed on the bone, and watched the traffic on the causeway.

[OOC: This is totally here just so I can cheat and have an intro/establishy post of my merc coming across the causeway. Anyone else want to do the same, feel free to ping in. Post is open to all.]

Jen had not only filled out the application paperwork Tom had told her to bring in today; she'd reviewed it three times and made two copies to keep on file. Police paperwork habits stuck with you, even if the 'paper' part was figurative in the year 3000. The original copy in hand, she showed up early for her first shift and took her time familiarizing herself with the restaurant.

The apron looked a lot silly over her Time Force uniform, but hopefully in a week or two after her player made icons from caps of last night mwaha she could at least afford one set of civilian clothes. She'd gotten by for a year with one set of civvies; she could do it again.

Sure, working in a pizza joint was probably a step down from law enforcement officer/superhero type, but Jen looked pretty happy about it. She hadn't been lying when she'd told Wes that one of the things she'd miss most about the 21st century was pizza, after all.

Today's Special
The Silver Hills Sicilian
Roma tomatoes, blue cheese, green peppers, pineapple, pink red onions, and black olives

The black olives were actually stuffed with little bits of tomato.

Pizza Planet is open!

Sky was not going to wear the banana suit to work today. Period, end of story. For once, he didn't care if his boss yelled at him. He felt a lot better than he had the past few days after scoring himself a date and talking to Teddy and Z. He had even slept some last night, but he was still not in the mood to be humiliated today.

As he opened the stand, he was very displeased to see that Eddie had found himself a girlfriend, and both of them were very squawky. So he threw up a force field over the stand's opening and glared at them.

"I dare either of you to try and beg free bananas now, birds," he challenged them, before settling back to read a book and wait for customers.

Bluth's is open.

[Pings may be slow, as Shurimon is busy, and by "busy" I mean I have a newly-purchased copy of Mega Man Starforce Leo to sink my teeth into. :x Hit me up on AIM at SPDSkyTate to get my attention.]

Liir made his way in, freshened up the front of the store with a few sweeps of the duster, and set up the cookies and tea for the customers.

Yes, it did go rather fast as he was in a very good mood and as such, no task was even the least bit arduous.

Following the usual morning ritual, he did a quick inspection of the store, neatened up a few areas so that Millie wouldn't have to, and finally found himself with a book from the bin at the back which he would be 'evaluating' for Millie today.

Mmm...The Concise Economic History of the World from Paleolithic Times to the Present. This should be fun.

The Book Haven is open.

The whole mercenary convention wasn't really sitting right with Jaina, so she ended up heading to the gym early to meet Anakin. After the events on Duro- specifically, her twin brother knocking the Yuuzhan Vong warmaster out a window- a bounty had been put on all the Jedi by the Vong. She was still pretty sure she was safe, and it certainly wasn't going to stop her from doing anything, it just meant she was being a little more cautious, and had a little more nervous energy to burn off.

She left the door open, doing some stretches to warm up while she waited.

Yitzhak was reading Solzhenitsyn today . . . and smirking evilly, since he'd managed to coerce his cook into trying to whip up as many foods as possible in 20 minutes.

He was evil sometimes.

After coming into the store, opening, giving the kittens the little kitty treats that he'd brought for them, and putting out some of the new stock, Chad settled behind the counter with his guitar to play along idly with the music he was playing. He was wondering if anyone in for the MercCon would need any music, so he wouldn't be bored today. He was however, kind of sad that he never got around to finishing that kicking ass mix he had in mind. He kind of had to go with the next best thing.

Today's Mix: Fun Run One

Groovy Tunes is open.

Giles stopped and picked up a box of donuts and a coffee before he headed over to the Magic Box.

He'd been in a rather thoughtful mood most of the week. The news that there had been a demon on the island had of course been disturbing, but it was the news that there had been possessions that he kept fixating on. He'd found himself thinking about his youth and the playing with fire they'd done with Eyghon, volunteering to be possessed.

They'd been more than stupid and the only surprise was that it took as long as it had to blow up in their faces.

Giles sighed as he leaned on the counter and sipped his coffee, pondering the follies of the past, his own and others.

The Magic Box was open.

There were mercs on the island! Or would be soon! Or maybe they were here already! And one of them had a chopper that Reno was going to borrow!

This was so cool.

So Rikku was bouncing behind the counter of the Wellspring Arms. Wondering what the protocol was for selling weapons to visitors. Hey, she'd figure it out, right?

So, there they were. The rescheduling of the date that was actually even confirmed as a date and not just something hanging there in ambiguity. A.J. even held the door open for Beauty as they arrived at Fast Eddie's, although he probably would have done something like that, anyway. "So what do you think?" he asked her as they moved in. "Bowling, video games, or something to eat first?"

[[ clearly, A.J.'s here with the permissively modded da~ate, but the bowling alley's definitely open for all your...bowling alley needs. *nod* ]]

The main ballroom of the Arms Hotel was ready to receive its guests, and anyone else who wandered in. There was a dais in front, with a microphone standing in wait, and a bar serving cocktails over against the wall.

The atmosphere was elegant, but in a low-key sort of way. Most of the con-goers weren't the ritzy type.

Come in, mingle, have some drinks. MercCon's about to kick off.

(OOC: up a little early for time zones and great SP. Beatrix's keynote speech is going in the comments, as it's looong. Wait for the OCD. OCD up - come one, come all! Guest characters and any residents of Fandom welcome.)

They hadn't managed to go out as planned yesterday because the muns had timezone issues, and Makoto felt slightly guilty about having had asked Tom to cover for his shift only to have not done anything. He'd apologize on Sunday.

Either way though, he was pleasantly surprised when Zuko showed up at his room after lunch with the intent of taking him out and walking around town. The rain though, made them reconsider, and they headed for J,GOB instead.

"We'll have to explore some other day, I guess." Makoto said as they entered the shop.

[For the big sib, yes yes. But also open for other J,GOB~y needs. And modding totally done with permission.]

Roy tapped his pen impatiently on the desk. The troopers' patrols had been upped for this whole MercCon thing, but it still didn't sit all too well. Maybe if he knew exactly who was coming. Mercenaries weren't his most liked population group and whatever disclaimers came with this convention, one could never be too careful.

So Roy was scanning through everything again, making sure there wasn't anything he was overlooking while he obstinately ignored the date on his calender and anything that wasn't mercenary related.
[identity profile] all4thewookiees.livejournal.com
Hearing that there was going to be a convention of mercenaries in town, Jolee checked his news back home quickly to see if anyone had a bounty on him for any reason.

Content that nobody was going to be coming after him any time soon, he opened up the bar.

[OOC: I may be a little slow, but I am around. Huzzah!]
