It was a terrible shame, really, that Nanao-chan had been so abjectly against the idea of taking this little vacation with Shunsui. It left him, if anything, utterly lacking in any assistance in ensuring he had a good, dramatic extrance. No sakura from the sky, no wind in his hair and haori, no timely crash of cymbals as he threw open the door. He had only his own grace and power to get him through, which, while still fairly formitable was clearly not optimal.

It almost didn't seem worth it, to just enter a place without a little theatrics, but he did what he could by striding ardently and making sure the door opened with great force and drama, once he found the little shop that was to be his, the one with the adorable name, and the little turtle and canary on its sign. His body filled the doorway, a convenient breeze rustling his pink robe, and that, in itself, was a decent enough touch.

"I believe you've been expect me ♥?"

But, actually, Apu hadn't, which was incredibly disappointing and Shunsui had to fight not to sulk as he explained the situation. "Why, I'm Captain Shunsui Kyōraku, it's very nice to meet you ♥! I've just purchased ownership of this precious little shop and I've just arrived to scope the place out ♥. Mind if I look around &heart;? Of course you don't, it's my shop! And you must be Apu-san, yes ♥? Excellent, excellent...!"

Shunsui continued to talk as he drifted about the store to sort of see what he was in for, expressing pleasure at nearly everything he saw, but none so much as the alcohol section. "Sake ♥!" he proclaimed happily, pulling a bottle from the shelf by the neck and giving it a little mischevious wag at his new...well, he supposed he could think of Apu-san as his new Leuitenant. "Let's say we break open a bottle for ourselves and celebrate, eh ♥?"

Apu tried to explain that he did not drink, he felt that it was an infringement on his consciousness, but Shunsui, who would have simply boggled over such an arguement if he tried to listen, just ignored it and went on about how they should share a drink and before any more refusals could be made, Apu had a cup of sake in his hands and Shunsui was sipping at his own as he continued to flounce through the store. Apu simply sighed, shook his head, and deposited the sake in the pot of one of the plants in the gardening goods section.

"Ah, lovely, lovely ♥!" Shunsui sighed in contentment as he stood behind the counter, looking over his new empire with satisfaction, getting a feel for what it was like to be at what was clearly the epicenter of the store. He refilled his glass and sipped some more, nodding to himself. Good sake! Good store! This was going to be very lovely indeed ♥!

[[ and thus Turtle & Canary has an owner once more! Post is open and currently free of OCD; Shunsui offered it sake and now it's chilling in the back room ]]

Now that the World Cup was over, Lindsay took down the soccer display and replaced it with baseball equipment. She made sure a Tigers cap was prominently featured. She might be just a bit biased. Or maybe she was missing home a little. Not that she would admit that to anyone.

Madison arrived for her first shift at the flower shop in a relatively good mood. Working here was going to give her a touchstone of normality that had been mostly missing from her life since prom.

She took some time to familiarize herself with the layout of the store and the various products available. Thinking of Drake's lecture yesterday and 'seizing the day' she also took the time to literally smell the roses.

When Sam had left New York, he'd told Peter that he was going back to Fandom to get more of his things, partly because he did plan on doing that, and partly because he liked the way Peter's face lit up at the idea of more of Sam's stuff being in his apartment. What he hadn't mentioned was the feeling he'd been having, drawing him back to Fandom. He wasn't sure how to explain it. He hadn't even been sure that it was real, to be honest. Either way, he was back in town, and getting some coffee was the first thing on his to do list. Maybe a muffin too, while he was at it.

[Open! I'm on SP until 1pm.]

After she got the shop in order, Tara retired behind the counter with a pile of books about dream interpretation. She was especially interested in the pages she found about prophetic dreams. She didn't think that was what was going on, but it still felt like something it would be god to know about.

There was nothing in that chapter about dreams that made the dreamer feel comforted, so she started looking up random elements. There had been a coconut in her dream the night before; apparently that meant someone was going to give her money. That totally did not suck.

[OOC: OCD-free open shop.]

Catching up on radio podcasts was a good way to speed up writing up reports at the front desk. It meant earphones and an easy way to work while ignoring the Top 20 music blaring from the tae bo classes. There was a lot included in the podcasts to make Dimitri frown, but nothing he thought held water, knowing the squirrels as he did.

Eventually, Dimitri wasn't actively listening to the reporters anymore. His mind was wandering, remembering times he avoided thinking about and old friends he always missed.

[The OCD was lost in a dream, it didn't know which, way to go...]

Cally Tyrol (and really, the fact she was keeping the last name was somewhat telling) sat behind the lobby counter/desk doing something utterly silly.

In attempts to not repeat yesterday's bout of terribly sad thinking, she instead was using the desk computer to surf Cute Overload. A heavy dose of cute and saccharine made her feel like she was back in high school, really. Back to good old days, good old friends.

Ah, nostalgia. Everything looks a little bit shinier with nostalgia.

She was completely interruptible, of course.

Hoshi was poking at the Portalocity website, trying to get a good deal on a portal to Hurley's California. Finding a portal that ended up in the right place and time was a little difficult, considering that time was moving faster for him, but she thought she found something that could work.

With that out of the way, she found a funny YouTube video with a puppy vs. robot. It kept Porthos and Four-Dee occupied for hours because they kept racing all over the lobby, looking for the source of the noise.

Mike had arrived at the causeway half an hour ago with two important tasks to accomplish. The first was to get a cinnamon roll from Jeff, God of Biscuits, since no other chef in the world could make one like Jeff's. The second mission was check on Mary, as he had promised Danny McCoy this morning.

Well, he could kill two birds with one stone. After stashing his bags at the front desk of the hotel, he called Mary and told her to meet him at J,GOB. Nothing like heavenly pastries to get people talking, right?

"Mmm, this is good," said Mike, not waiting for his friend to show up before taking a bite of his roll. "Dude, Jeff, I need to you pack up some of these for me to take home to the wife."

[So very open! Though you may want to specify if you're there before or after the punches get thrown.]

The stone felt bloated.

Yes, it was a stone, which almost by definition couldn't bloat, but it was loaded down with the memories and dreams of everyone it had touched. That was a lot for a medium-sized stone to carry.

Satisfied it had everything it needed, the stone called its power back. The power responded with alacrity, spiralling into the stone which twisted it, turned it inwards, blended it with the dreams it had shared, and sent out the call. An invitation to those who had passed on, one last chance to see those they loved, to put old grievances to rest, to say goodbyes they'd never had the chance to say. A chance to visit the living world – to be part of the living world – one last time.

The stone was honest: it was only for a short time, not for forever (it was only a medium-sized stone, after all; there was a limit to what it could do), but it would build a gate for anyone who chose to come.

Devoid of the power which had saturated it for the past two days, the island might feel curiously vacant. Still. Almost as if it was waiting.

[NFI, NFB. Feel free to keep dreaming and/or MYO posts to keep hunting around the woods, just remember there's no power signature to follow now. The dead will arrive this evening; the post will go up around 15:00 FH time.]

It was beginning to become habit to take a walk through the woods in the evening, armed with her bow and arrows. She now knew many of the plants, thanks to Karla's instruction, and it was easy to shoot down small birds or rabbits, too, now that she knew where they hid most.

She was still on foot, her tread light and soundless on the dead leaves, as she moved quietly through the woods, looking for game.

Chuck wasn't really comfortable having his dead father hanging around him yet, but he couldn't very well stop Bart from following him around. At least the one place he had to go to today had the booze he so desperately wanted. Bart seemed to understand and didn't make a single comment about Chuck pouring himself a glass of scotch.

"You've done a great job with this place, Chuck."

Chuck winced. "Could you ease up on the compliments? You being nice is...weird."

After having Wyatt orb her to the island in the morning, Isabel had had an enjoyable if entirely handwavey lunch with Anders. She should have had Wyatt come back to get her after lunch, but the feeling of needing to be in Fandom had been too strong.

After spending the afternoon sitting on the beach, Isabel had gone for coffee and to wait for Wyatt to meet her. The feeling of waiting for something hadn't faded and she wondered if it would be possible to convince Wyatt to get a room at the hotel for the night.

[For one or two specifically, but open before they turn up.]

The strawberry cake last week had been a perfect bribe to avoid the glaring Francine wasn't sure she was going to get when she broke the dishes she wasn't sure she was going to break.

This time she didn't dream about breaking anything, but she still brought in extra cookies, just in case. It seemed like a sound policy in general.

Today's Specials
Maple and Brown-Sugar Glazed Ham
Maple-roasted root vegetables
Maple Drop Cookies

Luke's was open way late, oh day, I'm so glad you are over and mapley.

Leia sat on a bench near the pond, idly throwing breadcrumbs for the ducks. She'd dreamed of her mother again that morning, mostly vague impressions of her face, an echo of her voice. It should've been impossible for her to have memories of her mother, but somehow she did. The holos Luke had shown her also flitted through her dreams, and she saw Padmé young and happy, and also quiet and determined. She kept hearing the voice saying if you dream them, they will come. Was it really possible? She'd just wait here and see.

Hiccup was sitting on the floor in the middle of Stark's, working on his contraption.

It may look like he was weaving baskets (and, to be fair, that was actually what he was doing), but those baskets were an integral part of the contraption.

He was really going to have to come up with a better name for it than 'the contraption', but that could wait until he was done with his basket weaving.

There was no fruit. Anywhere. Hiccup wasn't sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing, but he was pretty sure it was a strange thing.

After an...interesting evening with Mooner, Leda made her way to where he'd told her another visitor was waiting for her. It had taken some doing before she'd worked up the nerve to come out here. She wasn't sure she could handle this.

She almost broke and ran when she saw the familiar profile sitting on a bench, feeding the ducks.

"M-mommy?" she whispered in Elvish.
