At the Bada Bing

Becky once again mans the counter, surveying the room and its drunken, boring inhabitants.

She sighs, and wonders if...dancing...might bring more people in, and mentally shudders.

At Chaucer's

Mond Tuesd Sometime later in the week...

Sonia heaves her bookbag over her shoulder as she unlocks the front door to Chaucer's. She pulls open a curtain, switches on a lamp, and turns the sign in the window to read "OPEN." Lastly, she sets out a ledger book to keep track of any commissions that might come in for [livejournal.com profile] geoff_chaucer during the week, then settles down to work on her latest assignment.

[OOC: Doing this with permission from Geoff while he's away. If anyone wants to commission poetry/writing from him, or art/design work from Sonia, we're here. I'll try and make the 'open' and 'close' a little more official, but with RL being a little crazy, this might just end up a general thread where the store remains 'open' for the remainder of the week. Er.]

Come sunrise the day after the Student Council Open Mike night there is a delivery to Logan's house.

It is a crate, addressed to Logan.

Logan, upon opening said crate, will discover the crate is filled with this )

The chalkboard is out again. This time, it says: )

The sign on the front door says: "Closing early for Fandom Townie gathering"

Three other signs still hang in the window:

"Fandom Townie meet-and-greet party, Friday night
Feel free to stop by while the kids are busy at Homecoming,
come meet your fellow community business owners.
Food and drink will be served."

"Homecoming Special -- last day: free pack of condoms with purchase over $10."

"Now available, in case of unexpected 'guests': cricket bats ($20 each -- bargain priced!) and assorted ammunition."

Michael sits behind the counter, making a list of things that need to be done before the party, as Ben starts shifting some of the mobile display cases.

(ooc: Should we play out the townie party on [livejournal.com profile] fandomtownies or [livejournal.com profile] bens_mikey? Suggestions/preferences welcome. I'll still put a link post on [livejournal.com profile] fandomtownies even if it's played out on Michael's journal. Will try to have the starting post up by 3 pm PT.)

Opened for business, Red hung a sign in his window.

Fandom Townie meet-and-greet party, Friday night at the Emporium.

Feel free to stop by while the kids are busy at Homecoming, come meet your fellow community business owners.

Food and drink will be served.

Hopping up onto his stool at the counter, he stared down at something in a small, shallow box, his tail swishing in agitation.

There's a large sign in the window this morning.

Still closed. Re-opening Saturday. For your immediate drunken reveling needs, there's a party over at the Emporium tonight.

The marquee today reads:

"CORPSE BRIDE" SAT-SUN

The shop is transformed, the shelves and kiosk all mysteriously vanished. The office door now has a strange neighbor, a swinging door that must lead into a kitchen that definitely wasn't there yesterday.

Mr. Croup stands in his finest tweed suit, a cloth draped over one arm. Mr. Vandemar is not to be seen.

A fine oaken table is smack dab in the center, covered with a fine silk tablecloth, set with fine china, and sterling silver place settings, each monogrammed with "E.G" on the handles.

There is a fancy centerpiece with a large tapered candle in the center of the table, as well as candlabras surrounding the table.

A small dwarfish man stands in a corner, quietly strumming a mandolin.

Croup: "Remember, Hop-Frog. These people are guests... no stunts, got it?"

Hop-Frog grumbles, and nods while strumming the mandolin some more.

Mister Croup anxiously awaits the arrival of their guests.

Michael and Ben move displays and clear a large space in the front of the store. They set out the food, plates and forks on one end of the counter, and set up a makeshift bar at the other end, which Ben will man. They have a quick shower and other stuff before getting dressed and opening the doors for the party.

The new sign on the door reads:

"Welcome to the Fandom Townie party! Come in, mingle with your neighbors, and have some refreshments. (Alcoholic beverages courtesy of Spike's Pub; lemon bars, brownies and tuna casserole courtesy of Deb's Diva Dive; other food items courtesy of the Emporium and Ben the wonder chef)"

[ooc: A couple of people were asking if Shane was going to do hair today and so since it seemed like there might be a need, she's opening the door at her place in Amber House and keeping it open all day - so - if you need an updo, or an undo or a redo, just stop by and she'll do her best...]

Curled up on the loveseat, Shane was flipping through an issue of Hollywood Life that had arrived the day before. She still had quite a bit of time until she had to head over to Deb's to help out with the pre-Homecoming rush dinners. For the most part, in town, everything was quiet or just barely humming - either closing down or making preparations for the evening.

As for herself, she wouldn't be going to homecoming... instead, she'd be going to the movies with Kate. On her way out to get her morning double-shot, she'd checked out the marquee and winced. Still, she called Kate and left her a message to let her know what was playing.

The Doctor had made reservations for five pm. She dressed in her gown, a filmy green chiffon number with a halter neckline, and did her hair to cover that awful bruise that was changing into putrid shades of purple and green as it healed.

She walks in, wearing the lovely corsage he had sent her, and looks around for him.

Jean Havoc can be seen staggering stark naked around town late at night, looking as though he's had entirely too much to drink.

Around his waist hangs a sign that covers his pelvis that says "No Herpes--Check for yourself."

She was not nervous. Absolutely not. Being nervous would be silly, and Jake was never, ever silly. She frowned at herself in the mirror. She'd tried to do exactly as Duce and Chloe had shown her, but she wasn't entirely sure of the result. What was the point of make-up that didn't show?

The doorbell rang, and she nearly fell over turning around too quickly.

"Fucking shoes," she bitched, making her way to the front door. While wearing a short skirted dress was a bit weird, at least she could move in it. Not nervous. Not nervous in the least.

Jake paused by the door and sighed.

So fucking nervous.
