When it came to the always intrepid Apu-san's predilection for making a big deal out of national or international holidays that, quite frankly, sounded entirely made up, Shunsui generally only had one rule and that rule was that, whatever it was that Apu-san wanted to celebrate, he was free to do so and with gusto...as long as he didn't expect Shunsui to help set up, clean up, or participate, unless it involved either booze, beautiful women, or napping, the three pillars of his whole personality beyond which absolutely nothing deeper or more meaningful existed...

...ahem.

He was feeling exceptiionally glad for these rules when he wandered into the store that day to find that there was clearly a whole thing going on that involved an awful lot of tables and materials and signs that he was going to give a wide berth to, because it looked rather involved...

Shunsui at least had confidence that Apu-san knew better than to ask about the clean up of all this hat-making activity, but he did, at some point, try his luck on the participation rule.

"Why would I bother making a hat when I already have one, Apu-san?" he asked dryly.

And then wondered if perhaps they were paying Apu-san a bit too much when the answer was essentially to the effect that clearly, his hat could use an upgrade.

A date had been set for a trip out to California to finally speak with her mother, which made it difficult for Astrid to really focus on anything else. It was also difficult to not notice the irony of the fact that her visit coincided with Parents Weekend here at the school. Wouldn't it figure, that when everyone else's parents and family came here to visit them, Astrid had to do it back-asswards and go out to visit her mother. It seemed fitting, in a way; even on a weekend that was supposed to be about Astrid, everything would revolve around Ingrid instead.

Needless to say, she was gravitating heavily toward the oleander today, both in arrangements for customers and in her sketchbook, and images of her mother's face, her eyes, wondering if she'd changed much since the last time she'd visited her, which seemed ages and ages ago, and if she'd actually have the strength to follow through with what she wanted to do when finally face-to-face again.

Perhaps that's why Ingrid's face kept peeking out of her sketched flowers so much today. As if training herself to be able to look at it and not give in.

Summer Smith was having regrets.

Not about anything here, of course, although half of those jello shots really suggested that she maybe should, but she was starting to feel like she had made a huge mistake in actually agreeing to giving that whole 'family dinner with Barry' thing a try. Honestly, she felt she should have known better. Things had gone really well last weekend, so, statistically speaking, that only meant that things would probably be a disaster this coming weekend, although, really, she was convinced that anything having to deal with her family was a disaster right from the get-go.

But, hey, she figured as long as they didn't have to deal with the apocalypse (again), like some families as of late, they'd be good, right?

"I'm pretty sure I just doomed us to have to deal with the apolalpyse this weekend....again," Summer muttered, to no one in particular, shaking her head at her phone as she typed out yet another message to her dad about how, yes, that recipe looked fine for dinner, just like the fifteen million previous recipes he'd sent her, and then going back to respond to Morty who was just kind of being a little bitch about the whole thing, in between also, you know, doing her damn job, because it was a Wednesday night, like, she understood that at least Jerry had nothing else going on in his life, but didn't Morty at least have school to go to in the morning? Was he even still in school? Seriously, at this point, he'd probably just be better off as a drop-out...

And, because she was pretty sure he wouldn't bother responding anyway, Summer did add a text to Rick that went something along the lines of I swear to god, if you let the world get destroyed this weekend, pls just let it end me once and for all

Well, it was another Wednesday and another day of... listening to the Bee Lady. Which was as close to normal as this place really ever got.

"No, ma'am, we can't just arrest the raccoons for 'looking shifty' in your yard," Danny sighed, rubbing his forehead as he moved the phone from one ear to the other as this just stretched out. "Yes, I'm sure."

Next time he was making one of the troopers answer.

The day had started out pretty slow at the shop. All the current projects on his to-do list were done and all inventory was set out and in order. So with the doors open again, Dwight was sitting at the work table tinkering with his latest personal project- an old radio he had found sitting on the curb during his morning run.

Could he get it working again? maybe with enough tinkering and time and a few new parts. Would it be easier just to buy a working radio? Yes, yes it would be, but that wasn't the point. Whether it was productive work or not it was busy work and it was keeping him busy, which is what Dwight needed more than anything right now.

While Irene was fine with the pumpkin spice lubricant display she'd set up, this was beyond the pale.

"Absolutely not," she declared, opening the box that had arrived. "No. It's September. I understand Christmas creep, but -- "

And then, admittedly, curiosity got the better of her and she did end up taking out one of those...speciality glass dildoes before putting it back in the box. "I'll make a whole display of you November, promise, but let the pumpkins have their moment."

Though now she was trying not to think of what sort of ghoulish sex toys she might receive in the mail, after practically inviting them like that.

Dite's was open, if a little confused.

After her classes were finished for the week Jo had decided to try something a bit different and had opted for a hot cocoa at the Perk, it wasn’t as good as the ones from home but it was still nice to have.

Now that she had been here for a few weeks, she was working on a letter to her friend Deirdre, the last time she wrote had been before she left to go to Fandom and so was updating her on what her new school was like. She did consider asking if she could come visit Fandom for Parents Weekend but she was kind of scared to ask Miss Grayling for permission for Deirdre to visit considering how everything at ended at her old school so she had opted to not bring it up, maybe next year she’d arrange it.
