The Park- Wednesday night

Adrian had a little secret. He actually just liked taking the cat for walks. It was an excuse to get out, and the kitten seemed to enjoy it, if not so much the leash. And maybe he'd come around to liking the kitten a little.

Shut up, he would never admit it out loud.

Today's walk had taken them through the park, and since the kitten was behaving abnormally well today, he decided to chance it and took it off the leash while he found a spot on a bench to have a cigarette. It didn't run off or anything, which was good, and instead busied itself with pouncing on things. What things, Adrian didn't know, but there were a lot of them.

"You're very good at that," Adrian told it conversationally.

The kitten ignored him and pounced on something so hard it fell over.

[And with that last post done, I needed a kitty. No, not that one. Open!]

This was where Rose realised how much doing her field experience by guarding Adrian all night then training with Dimitri then going straight to work sucked.  She'd known it before when Dimitri was a bear, but that was more temporary and not as 'oh, so this is how it's going to be.'

The fact that she wasn't in the best mood wasn't completely related to the realisation but it wasn't helped by it either.

Most of the day she could be found sanitising the machines and other exercising equipment.  Maybe Jessi had just been boasting about using it, but Rose was taking no chances.

Honestly, Adrian had been looking forward to work today. Not for the actual work, of course, but there were potentially new people to meet. And some of them might be hot, or at the very least interesting. And if he was really lucky, both.

There was also the little matter of having a certain dhampir using him for field experience. Since she kept refusing to use him for other things.

So Adrian was in a good mood today, even greeting Tino with, "Make yourself a drink, on me." He didn't realize or care why that still got him glared at.

Sure the temperature outside was finally dropping below eighty, but within Atlas Gym, the heat was building.

There was no music.

There was no air conditioning.

There was only a hot and sweaty Russian who had spent the morning dragging old, dust-covered fans out of storage and setting them up to provide some relief to the Jazzercise participants who were literally going to be sweating to whatever oldies they could sing today.

Dimitri propped the doors to the gym open, hoping for a little natural air circulation while he went through his own workout, shirt getting heavy with perspiration. What? Like he was going to just hang out because of a little heat.

Atlas Gym was open for business!

The sound system in the gym was broken. That meant there was no blasting music to drown out Jessi's shouted instructions from the Tae Bo classes that took up most of Tuesday.

And that meant that Rose was about to go into the damn room and duct tape Jessi's mouth shut so she never had to hear "And punch! Punch! Two-three-four! Now kick! Bring that knee up! You're doing so good!!" Seriously, it was bad enough talking to Jessi, but to hear her teach her high-pitched class was way too much for anyone to handle.

This was why Rose was outside the gym in the sunshine. She'd even brought out the lost and found to sort out (and see if there was anything in there she could appropriate), but really she was just enjoying the sunshine.

When Adrian came in to work today, he found everything set up already, and Tino behind the bar wearing a graduation cap. The weird thing was, it wasn't even in Fandom High's colors.

"You're a strange man, has anyone ever told you that?" Adrian wondered.

Tino had no answer, probably because he didn't need to be told.
[identity profile] guardianborn.livejournal.com
It had cooled off a little - a very little - from the day, and with the graduation festivities out of the way and tours of the island done, Lissa had admitted to wanting to hang out on the beach a little on her last day.

Rose wasn't sure about the whole beach at night thing, but it wasn't like the darkness was a problem, and it'd be fun to just hang out and talk with her friend and anyone else who wandered by. Probably not skinny dip though. The whole guardian thing plus the water being freezing made that a little difficult.

So after the daily visit to the feeder off-island and taking care of a few other things, Rose and Lissa (and the accompanying men in black) made their waydown to the beach. Rose built a bonfire, kinda surprised that those tips she'd picked up at the winter survival workshop a few months back actually worked so well, and both girls found spots on a blanket to listen to the waves. And talk. And roast marshmallows and eat the lunch they'd picked up. And talk. There was no danger of a shortage of talking.

[Yep, totally open. Just like the sky. And the water. And - no, that's just mean.]
[identity profile] guardianborn.livejournal.com
Neither Rose nor Lissa had slept until the sun was high in the sky (though the hotel suite had remained dark, thank you excellent shades). There had been way too much gossip to catch up on of the type that couldn't be told over text message or phone conversation. Some things - especially between teenage best friends - had to be shared in person.

Regardless the girls woke up fairly early in the evening, and after a quick trip to the feeder on the mainland for Lissa, Rose set out to show her friend as much of the island as they could cover. The darkness didn't bother any of them, but by the time Lissa was wearing out from Rose's fast pace, they'd decided to rest a little as they hung out.

Still talking nearly a mile a minute, the girls decided to visit Fast Eddies. Rose had suggested Caritas, but a glance over their shoulders at the far guard Fialkovskii decided the matter. It probably wasn't going to be the best idea to hang out in a bar. Especially one that didn't card.

Instead it was pool and possibly bowling as the holiday from classes - for Lissa - and training - for Rose - was enjoyed.

[OOC: Open to any and all who have a pool-playing or bowling yen of course.]

Twas stubbornness that brought a puppy!Beka to the gym. It'd not take long for Beka to understand why Pounce had bothered to come with her despite her being a dog, and not one with a capital D. T'happened just as Jessi walked in, carrying a stack of towels. Mayhap the Trickster was kind. It'd have been much more kinder if Beka could have just woken up and be herself again instead of having it happen right in the middle of the gym. For one thing, it'd be less embarrassing and it'd have saved Beka from having to hear Jessi squeal and run off yelling like a midden hen about not caring for other gixies.

At least, Jessi'd dropped the towels and Beka's only just wrapped one around her and threatened Pounce to not be fed for the rest of the month. It'd have been more impressive if she'd not found herself atop a horse in the next instant. She hated the sarden beasts. She hated today.

Dimitri had asked her to work Thursday while he was on his totally secret personal business thing so Rose was at the gym all day instead of just to complete the training he'd assigned.

She'd greatly disappointed Jessi just by showing up, and the other girl had skipped out early, claiming a zomg so bad gluteal tweak and so needed a visit to the misogynist massage therapist.

Whatever, being here without either of them was better anyway as Rose was free to study the book on Russian she'd happened to find. Or had ordered off the internet. Something like that.

It was - well, she could honestly say she probably never needed to know how to score drugs in Russian, but now the words were stuck in her head. Great.

While Robin wasn't exactly ready to drink herself into oblivion after the weekend, or anything -- it hadn't been that bad, though now there were other people who knew that she was RJ -- she was still wary when she wandered into the bar. Tino, after all, might have seen little-her when she was in bossing Adrian around.

Tino, however, was already busy at work stocking things and whistling, in an alarmingly good mood. Which just made Robin all the more suspicious.

Caritas was open, and the bartender was on her guard.
[identity profile] guardianborn.livejournal.com
Rose had gotten a stake. Well, okay, it was a practice stake, but she was pretending it was a real one. And she'd liberated it from that stupid Russian boy's stash and didn't even get caught. Not that she was worried. Nope, not Rose.

So Rose was going monster hunting. There had to be monsters all over in a place like this. There were hardly any grown ups and no guardians to make sure every thing was okay. Which was a good thing! Monsters would be fun to kill and then Rose would be protecting everyone and making sure they were safe and prove to all the bigger kids which was all of them that she was going to be the best guardian around.

It was the best plan ever.

She sneaked carefully through the streets, peering around each corner. No Strigoi or monster or grownup was gonna sneak up on her. (Except they probably were, because Rose? Not nearly as sneaky as she liked to think.)

[Open to monsters and kids and grownups alike!]

Let's just say Adrian had a feeling it was going to be one of those days. And this was confirmed when he walked into Caritas guardianless for once... and found an eight-year-old behind the bar.

"Welcome to Caritas, what can I get for you?" Jaina asked cheerfully. She was totally sitting on a stool so she could see over the bar.

For a moment he only stared before coming up with, "You're fucking kidding me."

"That's a bad word," she accused.

"You are not tending bar like this," he decided, heading over behind the bar. Adrian was not the most responsible person in the world, and he'd laugh if anyone ever was dumb enough to say he was, but something told him this was just not right. "I'll take today, you can take Monday."

"I can too serve drinks!" she protested. "But if you're gonna be that way, fine. I won't even help you."

"Fine," he said, and went to make himself a drink... only to find that all the alcohol had been replaced by things like milk and lemonade. "Son of a bitch," he muttered.

"Another bad word."

[Yes, Adrian'll be serving today, and yes he will be sober around the kiddies. No worries, it's too early for him to be getting crazy all over you.]
[identity profile] whos-got-spirit.livejournal.com
No, radio squirrels, this was not a date, as much as Adrian wished it was. He had nothing against Dimitri, despite how easy it was to mess with him, but if he had any opportunity to spend time with Rose, as his guardian or not, he wanted to take it. And if that meant going out to dinner instead of ordering room service, well.

And to his credit, he didn't go all out or anything. He could have sprung for a trip to New York for dinner or something, but did he? No. Admire his restraint, it was rare. Instead he opted for sushi, figuring he could still rack up a good bill and look impressive paying the check.

"This isn't so bad, is it?" he asked with a smirk, going for his chopsticks. Of course he knew how to use them right.

[For the guardian! No, the other one. The chick.]

Rose had no idea how Dimitri kept this schedule because it had only been a few days of it for her, and she was about ready to die. Or just curl up and sleep forever. It was probably better on days when he didn't need to be at the gym all day, and she probably could have skipped work, but screw it, if he could do it, so could she.

Which didn't mean she was actually working yet. Instead she was sitting on a mat, her head leaning against the wall, and hoping, hoping that whatever the hell this headache was would finally leave her be if she just let her eyes close for a few minutes.

Dimitri was still a tiny bear, and right now, he was a tiny bear bent on exploring every crevice of the gym. Which would be why his weetiny muzzle and paws were absolutely covered with dust.

Opening the gym in Beka's stead had seemed like a good idea initially. As expected, Jessi had shown early for her usual classes, but at that point Dimitri had good reason to retreat into his office to field a call from the Academy about some travel plans that needed to be finalized, no matter other issues with his novice.

Dimitri was just stowing his phone in a pocket when he felt the strangest itch inside his ear. Reaching up to scratch it, Dimitri suddenly toppled off his chair and landed in a pool of fabric on the hard floor. Try as he might, Dimitri couldn't seem to grab hold of the fabric to tear it from his head. Annoyed to have his ears pressing against his head, he shook with all his might and popped out from under the shirt.

Hmm. He didn't recall the desk being so high. Or the bag lunch on top of it smelling so good. Dimitri's stomach rumbled. His nose lifted in the air as he sniffed deeply, front paws--paws?--pressing against the table leg before long, sharp claws automatically dug into the wood, dragging him off the ground.

Uh.

This is the part where putting in extra time at work was clearly a poor choice on Dimitri's part. Especially when the door to the office was closed. At least he had that lunch...now, to get at it without his bear bum slipping down the table leg in a laughable manner.

Rose had hoped the result of a good night's sleep uninterrupted by fire drill or chocolate rain would be the disappearance of the headache that kept lurking at the back of her skull. She'd also hoped that whatever else happened, she'd stop seeing the odd flickers of black out of the corner of her eyes every time she turned her head.

These hopes, as it turned out, were invalid.

The situation left Rose annoyed and mildly pissy as she went through the normal gym chores. Jessi stopped by to taunt and got a soaked cleaning rag whipped at her head for her troubles.

It was a good day at the gym.

It was kind of lonely at the gym today. Ash was startled to realize she actually missed Helen, no matter how improbable and inexplicable the child was. Part of her was regretting not asking the girl if she knew her grandmother and had been to the Sanctuary, but part of her was glad she hadn't asked, because if the answer was no, it would have broken her.

Maybe she would call John tonight. For now, she was going to hit the treadmill unless someone needed her.

Tyler seemed a little worn-out as the group gathered today. "Welcome to the end of the school year," he said flatly. "Next weekend, finals are done and we're pulling up stakes until things settle in a little for the summer. Let's make our fights today worth it. Deadpool, Anakin -- show the kids how it's done."

Ghanima nodded crisply in agreement before rattling off the other matches quickly and efficiently. "Get to it," she added. "I'm curious to see the results of today's fights."

Glowering at the bright white towels as he plucked them from the pile of clean gym laundry, Dimitri tried to focus his energy and regain his aloof guardian mask before he would resume his regular duties at the desk.

Unexpected. The headmistress had called his request for Rose's return to the Academy unexpected. It was beyond Dimitri's understanding how an educational facility would reject its most promising pupil time and time again. And yet, that was exactly what Kirova's letter had done.

Accepting he had no control over the decision, Dimitri started thinking how to spin the news that they would be continuing training in Fandom through summer in a manner that would also halt any destructive reactions on Rose's part.

Or maybe he should teach her how to fold towels. Clearly that was what the cream of the crop of novices was good for. Muttering in Russian as the pile of prepared towels grew, Dimitri realized he might be staying in the back room for a while today.

Bright side? At least for once it wasn't Jessi that had Dimitri frowning.

It was strange, trying to get back into the normal way of things after the bomb that was Sascha was dropped and then ran away again. Not that Rose was really acknowledging any of that. Talking about Stuff. It wasn't what she did.

Thankfully Jessi was less talky than usual too. It seemed the child that had shown up for her had been so terrible, she was considering never having sex again. Rose thought that unlikely what with it being Jessi. Typical though that the one day Rose really wouldn't mind being driven to distraction and temper, Jessi decided to shut up.

Without anything to distract her, Rose spent the day getting a lot of stuff out to do and actually doing little of it. She was productive. Really.

Dimitri was a very skilled man. Years of daily conditioning and special training had him in top form for a guardian and he was often regarded as one of the best of his (admittedly young) generation.

So why was a simple obstacle course such a challenge? Probably because Dimitri was six feet, seven inches tall without trying to hang from monkey bars on a children's playground in the park.

It was quite the sight, the giant man just barely missing smacking his head as he ducked in and out of playground equipment, trying to keep up with the tiny, dark-haired boy ordering him along.

All that training was really coming in handy.

As the night went on, an assortment of prom favours were replacing the masks on the table just inside the tent. Everyone was free to take a picture frame and disposable camera to record their own Prom memories. Also were shot glasses with the Fandom High gremlin on them. Such things happened when Dean Stinson was the Student Council advisor.

The punch was thoroughly spiked by now, but the dessert table had been refilled o soaking up all that alcohol was a definite possibility. The music would still be playing for a few hours for all to get in as much dancing and time to be with their friends as they wanted.

And in just a moment, Dean Stinson was going to announce the Prom Court.

Just on the other side of the Causeway, the weather was cool, but in Fandom, a beautiful, warm nearly-summer evening welcomed Fandom's seniors and juniors to their Prom.

A large tent open on one side had been erected in the center of the park. Garlands of small white lights entwined with greenery decorated the edges and roof of the tent, while two of the canvas sides were covered in large pictures of cherry blossoms and the middle had a wall-sized painting of a masquerade. Under the canopy were clusters of little chairs and tables along with the table of food and punch bowl.

Beyond the tent's open wall, a dance floor had been set up on the grass under the conveniently flowering trees. More fairy lights had been wound through the tree branches leaving the area softly lit in most areas. Torches were placed in a few clusters around the dance floor, making flickering areas of brighter light for people to congregate.

A photographer waited for his clients just beyond the dance floor with several backdrops of flowers or masquerades or, oddly, a lemur family to choose from.

The voting box for Prom King and Queen stood right at the entrance to the dance for those last-minute votes.

And, of course for Fandom's Masquerade, a table of elaborately decorated (or some more simple ones) waited for their new owners to simply slip them on and join the revelry.

His duties at the gym being far less complicated than anything else in life, Dimitri found he was mostly finished with his tasks early every afternoon. This was a good thing if only because his modified Moroi schedule meant Dimitri really should be sleeping after Rose's morning training.

With Jessi in attendance at Atlas, Dimitri took his usual opportunity to head for his office, intent on stealing a nap on the couch before afternoon training.

Strangely, today Jessi seemed to be following him to the office door. Dimitri put an arm out to block Jessi's progress into the room and looked at her, eyebrow raised.

Jessi looked startled and made to duck under his arm up until Dimitri physically blocked her passage. "Why am I the only one not allowed in the office?" Jessi whined. She shook her frustrated blonde head as the door closed in her face.

There was a lot of pissed off in Rose as she pushed her way into the gym for afternoon training.  She was startled for a moment that Beka wasn't there, but there'd been something about her being a dog again on radio, right?  Better than she wasn't there so Rose didn't have to try not to be pissed off for her when she really, really wanted to be.

Freaking Tasha Ozera.  Freaking Shelley.  It was stupid and totally not possible and yet she couldn't help the overwhelming surge of rage at the thought.

Fine, whatever, Rose threw her bag from Pixie Dust down behind the desk before she stomped over to start pulling out the mats and training equipment.  It wasn't like she wanted to go talk to Adrian and ask him for a favour later anyway.  This would just make it freaking easier all around.

Jessi was banished to the Tae Bo room.

There was no real reason for that other than the fact she was Jessi, and Rose was going to punch her in the nose if she started in on comments today.

...well, also that if Rose and Jaina were going to go look at dresses later, Rose probably shouldn't punch Jessi in the face and end up in trouble for it.  That would kinda spoil the whole girly shopping experience.

Apparently there were three reasons, Jessi was banished to the Tae Bo room.  If she was gone, Rose could daydream out her plot in peace.  That was a good, good thing.

So Rose would be at the desk.  Daydreaming.

Jaina was a little early to work today, because after attempting the gym and figuring out that forgoing the sling didn't mean she was up to her usual training, she was cranky and sore and didn't feel like sitting in her room doing nothing till it was time to go in.

The cranky and sore thing was why Tino felt bad enough to offer her a shot, and after turning it down a couple times, she finally just gave in and did it to shut him up. ...The second one too.

Some days, there was just no avoiding annoying coworkers.

"I didn't know we were allowed to do extra-curricular activities in the gym, Dimitri," Jessi said, boldly approaching him at the desk. "Is the office open to us all?" Her eyebrows waggled like two caterpillars on a stalk.

Dimitri's gaze remained level, no matter his internal struggle. "No." Rising to her bait would be a waste of both time and energy.

Jessi's mouth opened and closed with a lack of words. She flipped her long golden locks over her shoulder and finally replied, "Well, it's totally not fair that you get special use of the equipment."

Dimitri simply stared at her, as if waiting for her to have a point. Or just leave. Either way.

With a huff, Jessi did the latter; it was time for tae bo anyway.

Don't look now, but Rose was thinking.

She'd put it off long enough during the past week of insanity, but after the gym chores were done, she really didn't have anything else to do other than think about what exactly had happened last week in the fog.  If she'd actually seen Mason in the fog or if had just been another weird hallucination induced by whatever had made her think Dimitri was a monster.  A monster with a stake, and she rubbed the shoulder that had gotten in the way of it.

Thinking sucked.  Thinking led to brooding, and since she wasn't Alex and she didn't have any alcohol, she refused to get to brooding.  Instead the music was turned way, way up (and it wasn't 80s crap, tyvm) to try to distract from the thinking.

Instead, she was annoying Tesla via text message. Girl needed a hobby, really.

Apparently when Rose meant business, even Dimitri did actually pay attention.  She was torn between being flattered that he was listening to her about something fighting-related and being worried that it meant something else was wrong with him.

Because it was Dimitri and he got hurt.  This fact bothered her a little, yes.  Though it was just possible that fixating on that fact kept her from considering that the freaking huge monster had tried to drown her, but still, Dimitri wasn't ever supposed to get hurt.

She tugged him back into the gym's office and pointed to the chair.  "Sit there, and I'll grab the first aid kit."

The problem with airborne hallucinogens was that there was no telling how they would affect an individual's brain chemistry after long-term exposure. As it turned out, Edmund had run into the fog yesterday without a mask, not knowing that the fog made you see and hear things. He had made his way to the weapons locker to retrieve his sword and had spent the entire night out fighting monkeyponies, baby godzillas and teal deer who he thought were elephants with machetes.

By now though, the hallucinogen was well and truly in his system and had combined with lack of food, lack of sleep and an increasing lack of a hold on reality. What this meant was that Edmund Pevensie was quite off his head. The good news was that he wasn't overly aggressive himself, just completely loopy and talking to the air or random objects he came across, seeing them as something they weren't. Goodness only knows who he would think people were if he was to come across any.

"I'll have you know that I've not had a sidekick before," he said to a garbage bin. "But you're doing an admirable job so far. Do try to keep up."

It was stupid to be out in the midst of the fog and apparent monsters. Yeah, whatever, Alex knew that but he also knew that he was out of cigarettes and, after the last couple of days, he really needed a goddamn drink. So, he'd grabbed a scarf (yeah, he owned one) and wrapped it around his face and neck and decided to just freaking go for it.

Hopefully all the apparent monsters would be too busy with the actual fighters and wouldn't notice someone inconspicuous (ha!) like Alex toting a bag full of things he needed back to the dorm. And, well, if the monsters did find him, maybe they wouldn't kill him if he offered them a drink.

It'd been a long week, all right? He was feeling a little self destructive and wanted to work off some of the restless, twitchy energy that he'd stored up since Monday. He was allowed to think a little morbidly.

There was a bull-size wolf moving through town. The fact that some people might end up thinking he was a monster had occurred to Jacob, but his sense of self preservation was very much skewed. Besides, how many monsters did you know that walked around with a cut off pair of jeans attached to his hind leg by a gas mask. Luckily there was no droid baby, Sedna had been dumped with Morgana which seemed better for everyone involved. Except perhaps Morgana.

It left Jacob free to wander the island, trying to pick up a scent of the wolves that had taken the principal. He couldn't help wondering if the one he'd met on Thursday had anything to do with it. He didn't want to believe it, she'd been... He didn't know what it had been, but he'd been comfortable with her almost as if she'd been one of his pack despite all the differences.

The fog was still thick and while Jake's bulk gave him at least some time before he started hallucinating, he wasn't immune. It forced him to retreat regularly when the vampire scents became more poignant and he could see things moving that weren't really there. He'd find a spot, turn back and breath through the gas mask until he was certain his head was clear enough. Then he'd be back out, looking for real monsters and the wolves. Because somehow that was personal.

So, okay, the thing about being who she was and doing what she was meant that not only was Jaina out again tonight, but if there were emails saying to avoid the park... guess where she was. After those guys, of course. Look, she was raised this way. If there were warnings, that meant maybe there was something going on and she should be there, wandering around and listening for trouble.

At least she had a mask on today?

Atlas Gym - Tuesday

Jessi hadn't been in the gym more than a few minutes before Rose heard a gasp of disgust followed by what sounded like ripping paper. Only another moment passed before Jessi stalked around the corner, looking annoying.

"What is this?" she bitched, holding up what looked pictures of a fat guy. "Why is this on the wall of the gym? How am I supposed to teach people how to be beautiful when they have to try not to gag as they walk in? Why does my job have to be so hard?"

Rose rolled her eyes even if she was snickering a little. "Hell if I know. Maybe Dimitri let him put 'em up there or something. Like a warning against starvation diets."

"Ugh, like starvation diets are so bad," Jessi said. "It's trying to gain weight that's the worst. Look at my boobs! God, I should get implants or something."

This would be too much information, yeah, and Rose really wasn't sure when Jessi decided she needed to be the target for "girl talk." Being hated was so much nicer. Though she didn't mind the reminder that Jessi really could use some help in the hot department.

Apparently the pink spandex girl had still been talking as Rose thought. "...so, I mean, can't you tell Dimitri we don't want these ugly pictures up? I would, but he won't talk to me since I broke his heart by choosing Ralph over him." Jessi gave Rose a once over. "Guess he consoled himself quickly enough." She was apparently smart enough to see Rose's hand clench as the other girl lose complete grip on her temper, and Jessi threw the pictures at Rose, fleeing back into the aerobics class room.

Rose hated her. But she wasn't going to go kick Jessi's ass. It would be stupid and she'd get it trouble and.... Haaaaaaated.

Rose was there. And if you weren't wearing pink spandex, she'd be happy to help you.

So Adrian had gone back to Court for the week which meant Dimitri was free from his guardian duties which meant he and Rose seemed to be having something like a date. Or as close to a date as a student and her mentor were allowed to have even if they'd decided to ignore all that stuff.

Which was why she was waiting for him in Fast Eddies, a weird bit of her on edge since it apparently didn't matter if she'd seen him twice that day already. She'd almost never seen him when they weren't wearing training clothes though, and Rose had paid more attention to her appearance than she'd admit. She'd made sure her hair fell perfectly before putting on her best pair of jeans, a clingy and slightly sparkly top that Lissa would have approved of, and Mat's necklace to complete the look. It would've been easier to ask a friend if it worked, but that would've meant explaining why she cared, and...yeah.

And she was rolling a pool cue over the pool table she'd claimed as she waited for Dimitri to join her. Rose had seen people roll pool cues on tables in the movies. It looked cool or something.

Tyler and Ghanima were both there early today, waiting for everyone to arrive.

"Good evening," she started, looking around the space. "Welcome back, and we're back to our randomly assigned pairs."

"Miss Dinah Lance and Miss Claire Bennet. Mr. Jono Starsmore and Miss Lulu. Jedi Tahiri and Miss Fa Mulan. If you do not already know each other, please introduce yourselves. You are partners for your fights this evening."

Tyler just rolled his eyes at Ghani's formality. "Jen, grab Blysse. Katarn and Hathaway, Mayor Summers and Blue Girl. Go to it."

Atlas Gym | Friday

Fridays at the gym were always...interesting. After a near-incident where Jessi had tried to play dress-up with the bunny who'd followed Dimitri to work, Dimitri and the bunny had retreated to the front desk. Jessi had been sent to actually teach the class she'd been hired to run, even if Billy Blanks wasn't there for her.

The bunny was Shelley, of course, still stuck in that form after two weeks. Dimitri watched as she sat on the counter, rubbing her paws over her face and smoothing then over her long ears, as if checking for dust from the gym floor. Typically, even in this state, there was no keeping his roommate from staying well-groomed.

Rose was in the midst of a serious if mental debate as she worked. For one thing, it distracted her from scrubbing all the stupid corners of the gym where little bits of gross dried mud and jello had ended up. Not to mention the little slicks of oil drops on the wall.

So yes, on one hand, there was really annoying stupid cleaning to be done, but on the other hand, the reason for the intensive clean had given her the opportunity to talk Dimitri into skipping out of Fight Club and finding their way back to his apartment. Which was way more amazing than she'd ever imagined.

The debate wasn't anywhere near being resolved, especially as Rose turned her attention to the the pile of mats that were next on the list to washed down. She made a face then refilled her bucket of soapy water to start on that project. It was amazing how the one time she'd've liked to see Jessi and make her do some of the chores, the annoying pink spandex girl was nowhere to be found. Typical.

It wasn't quite an ordinary night at fight club, since most of the mats were covered in tarps and three oversize kiddie pools were set out on the tarps. If you got close enough to look into the pools, you'd notice mud in one, jello in another, and a shallow slick of oil in the third.

Tyler had learned never to lose a bet with Ghanima, and the less said about that the better. She smirked from a corner in the back of the room and left the explanations to him.

"So we're doing special training today," he said dutifully. "Fighting in substances -- mud, jello, or oil. If that's not your cup of tea" -- and he, frankly, considered that only sanity -- "there are other mats on that side of the gym."

A pause as Tyler was interrupted by a chanty being sung in a very squeaky voice.

"Don't squish the pi-rats while you're at it."

There were two sets of wickets knocked into the grass at a decent distance from each other. Two bats lay off to the side in case anyone wanted to join in. Edmund, in the meantime, was content to bowl the red cricket ball at the far wicket. When he hit (and he was a bit rusty, so he didn't always hit the wicket), he would walk down there, reset the wicket and walk back to where he'd been to do it all again.

It was like an old neighbourhood cricket match, only so far there was just him. But perhaps someone would be interested in joining in as they walked past.

[OOC: Open game of friendly cricket! Edmund's happy to teach unsuspecting passers by.]

This Thursday at the gym was very nearly the best day for working. The trickle-down effect of Brandi filling in for Jessi's Tae Bo class meant Dimitri wasn't hiding stuck in his cramped office and could actually accomplish things on the floor! Things like the all important testing of equipment.

Everyone should appreciate knowing the pull up bar was working juuuust fine.

In the middle of his test, the guardian's phone started buzzing in his pocket and he dropped down to answer, surprised to be receiving calls so late in the Moroi day. After a short conversation in Russian, Dimitri clicked the phone shut and resumed his equipment test, satisfied by what he considered good news.

Rose wasn't working as hard as she had last Tuesday - Dimitri's reaction had sealed that, yes.  But she was still trying to keep herself from thinking too much.  She hadn't gone back to the dorms after the morning's training - thinking she'd seen a flash of red hair in the woods was enough to unsettle her even more.  Hallucinations were one thing, but a continuing hallucination was just way too crazy for her.  It wasn't happening.

When she wasn't obsessing over the whole ghost-thing, she was trying not to be upset about radio's implications about her and Dimitri.  Not that a 'relationship' wasn't what she wanted or dreamed about or something, but Rose knew full well that wasn't possible, wasn't happening, and the fact that radio apparently decided that it was just pissed her off.

On the plus side, Jessi wasn't around.  Much.  She'd come in to teach her Tae Bo classes and fled almost immediately after when her smug comment to Rose had ended up with Rose cocking a fist and taking a step forward.  Smug and stupid, Jessi was.  Wanting to have her nose broken, she wasn't.

Once again, Adrian hadn't turned into anything this weekend, and instead got to watch everyone else be insane. For that reason, he loved this town. And he got to work the bar on Monday, meaning anyone who stopped in was going to get one of those knowing looks from someone who listened to radio.

Ignore that he was repressing certain parts of the weekend. Like Dimitri's parts.

This ship clearly was more spacious on the inside than the outside had indicated.

Rose DeWitt Bukater, however, was more disturbed about the fact that the servants had apparently mixed up her luggage with the clothes of someone who couldn't decide if he was a man or a prostitute.  The clothes that were in the closet of her stateroom!  Rose considered herself an open-minded and forward-thinking lady, but she was still a lady, thank you very much.

Dressing had taken longer than she'd expected, and without a maid, it was harder to put her hair up than she'd expected.  She may not have been dressed at the height of fashion, but she was not going to be ashamed in the costume either.

The bar seemed to be the most active establishment on the ship, but Rose couldn't quite allow herself to go into it on her own let alone order a drink, so she found herself in a seat at the tea shop with a cup of a tea and plate of cookies in front of her.  Less attention was being paid to the tea than to the window onto the passage and all the people passing by.

[La, open]

The 80s music was at full volume today while Dimitri scrubbed the grime off a set of mats. He was being proactive, completing the wet task while certain other workers were enjoying their day off.

Dimitri didn't mind the work itself, even if he did end up with a damp t-shirt and some soap in his hair from tucking it back behind his ear mid-scrub. It was a good day to get lost in manual labor, humming along to A-HA.
