Graham had Triumph with him today at the shop! Mostly because, after he got out of doing radio and his stomach gave a little grumbling protest about all the food he'd promised it, he realized that there was no way he was going to be able to carry all that food by himself!

....well, actually, yes, he knew he could just put it all in his cloak, because if you had a cloak of holding and didn't use it to transport copious amounts of food, then what were you even doing with your life, but he did remember that food was always better with friends, anyway, so why not share it with his best friend?

So they trotted in and Graham gave Triumph a breakfast sandwich to tide him over while he took care of his initial tasks for the day, and then it was time to camp out in front of the counter with their smorgasbord spread out in front of them. Of course, he had a little fish for Saffron, even though she didn't seem interested at all, and they made sure to leave lots of crumbs for Little Bot, too!

"You know what, Triumph?" he said, with a mouth full of food and licking a little sauce off his thumb. "When we're done with breakfast, I think I'm gonna see what games I can find about food, but you have to promise me, no matter how good it looks, you can't try and eat any of them, okay?"

Triumph gave a little protesting squeak.

"Oh-kaayyyy?" Graham prompted again.

But this time, Triumph harrumphed and threw up his snout defiantly.

He could guarantee nothing!!

No, no, Graham was not going to build a snow fort inside the store. Although it was tempting, the logistics of it did seem just a little bit out of his purview, although he was tempted to go around and gather various resources and try a bunch of things until it actually worked.

He did, however, come up with what he felt was a good middle ground, in getting to the store and then seeking out games that involved some sort of snow play element to them, as well as a whole cadre of games from a publisher called Snow Fort, and then brought them out to make a little display in the form of a fort with them!

And then, in a stroke of genius, put Saffron in charge of the store real quick so he could rush over to Turtle & Canary to pick up a bag of cotton balls, which, once he returned with them, he just may be using as 'snowballs' to lob at people when they came in.

Graham was very busy at work that day!

Not with, like, actual work; that was pretty light, actually, save for a little clean-up and organization and maybe the occasional customer, but, instead, most of his day was being spent at the counter, hunched over a notebook and scribbling away inside of with a flurry of inspiration. Occasionally, he'd stop and have to cross some things out or, after reading through the whole page, give it a look of disgust and tear it out and throw the offending page away before starting again, but he was hot with idea for his character in his Dice & DANGER! class, and he couldn't let that spark fade before he managed to get it all out of him.

And then he started to wonder if there was some sort of cohesion that could be going on here. Could he combine a story for his Creative Writing class with his character from Dice & DANGER! class???

He didn't know if he'd be able to get away with it, but he was eager to find out! And eager to ride this burst of creativity as far as he could before he suffered major burnout by the end of the day.

Graham had cheesecake, Graham had a squirrel that agreed to move this Jenga match from the radio station to the Emporium, and he was intensely focused on both, somehow, carefully moving a fork with a bite of cheesecake on it to his mouth while also hunched over the teetering tower as his finger of his other hand gentle poked and prodded at a piece to loosen it from its spot in the deteriorating structure.

The tower quivered. The tower shivered. Graham held his breath as the edge of the block slipped away and time seemed to stand still for a moment as he slowly, carefully, pulled both fork and block away and chewed...

He did it! It was still standing! It was...

Coming crashing down as a feline who was supposed to be referee came crashing into the tower and sent it all crumbling in a cascade of clattering wooden blocks.

"Saffron!" Graham complained. "If you were gonna call a foul move, you could have just said something! You didn't have to take down the whole tower!"

Oh, but Graham! She was a cat! What did you expect, honestly?

He looked over at Saffron, unremorseful as she sat down and started grooming her back leg, and shook his head, turning toward Leroy, already starting to gather the blocks, and asked, "Rematch?"

Even though he was a bit late due to some...dramatics over at the radio station during his broadcast that day, Graham was true to his word in coming in for his shift today to check out some of those games about cats that the notes had mentioned Steph putting out.

But that just got him wondering if there were any games about capybaras like Triumph, and, after a little bit of digging, exploring, and research, he discovered that indeed there was!

" card game where you play as a baby monkey and organize a line of capybaras," he read off, his eyes growing wide. "Oh my goodness, I cannot wait to play this with Triumph later! That's perfect!"

Don't mind him, being all heart-eyes over a card came for the rest of the day now. But come on! A baby monkey! Herding capybaras?? Because they love to eat pumpkins??

Perfection.

Also, definitely picking up some pumpkin pie on the way home now, too! For Triumph!!

Graham was feeling pretty proud of himself; his Reindeer wasn't really all that great. He was pretty fluent in Deer, but it was a common misconception that both languages were fairly similar ad that if you knew one, you could muddle your way decently through the other. But he'd managed to work it out enough to convince the tiny reindeer floating around the shop to play a nice holiday themed card came with him so he could test it out and recommend it people if they came in looking for some last minute gifts.

Unfortunately, the only recommendation he was really getting out of it was to not play card games with tiny floating reindeer, they did not have the attention span for it, and you knew it was bad when a critique like that was coming from Graham 'Ooh Shiny What Was That?' Cracker.

Who needed mistletoe when you had Graham Cracker?

Because Graham, inspired by all the amorous squirrels at the radio station that morning, decided he was going to be playing a little bit of a matchmaker of his own with the display minis. And what started out as just a little bit of an amusing pairing of various different ones was turning into a whole elaborate epic of torrid romance, broken hearts, and sweeping overtures of longing.

"But, oh, Roderick! I can't kiss you! You kidnapped my poodle and then tried to usurp my throne!"

"Ah, but you must, Genevieve! The Great Mistletoe demands it!"

"Oh, burn your wretched Mistletoe! And yet...I find....I cannot resist those shining pewter lips!"

And so they kissed, and it was very passionate, and Graham was definitely getting a few uncertain looks from Saffron as he made the smooching sound and pressed the two little minis together, but then he broke them apart with a gasp and reached for a minotaur.

"Genevieve! And Roderick! My best friend! No! How could you! Clearly, I must avenge this betrayal! With.....more kissing!"

This was literally going to keep Graham entertained all day.

Inspired by the music that was playing from his phone that had also been playing at the radio station that Graham, despite not knowing the words and definitely making up some of his own, was singing under his breath on his way to work, he scoured the shelves sort of looking for games that involved a theme of bells to feature today and to maybe give a try.

This one seemed a great idea in concept, and he thought the magnetic wand was very cool (and would absolutely later become a prop for playing Wizard around the store later), but in practice? It was very difficult to get Saffron on board with the logistics and rules of the game, when she pretty much just wanted to bat the little bells around and, oh, they were definitely losing some of those by the end of the day, weren't they?

But, hey, you know what? She was actually (kind of!) playing with him, for a change, so he was taking it as a win!

Pizza Planet was not exactly closed today and it wasn't exactly open for business as usual, either, but a (not-at-all-)secret, third thing, which was: hosting Friendsgiving. If someone really wanted to walk in and order a pizza Raiden would absolutely make that happen for them, but why would they bother, when they could walk in and partake of...well. After Rey had asked Raiden to help out with the food, things might have gotten out of hand, because this was Raiden, and this was Thanksgiving, and this was Fandom, so what if someone had never had pie before?

The doors were open, the tables were groaning with food (which Raiden had carefully arranged so that if people brought their own contributions to the feast there was room for them), and the specials board read:

You know what? Even if the squirrels apparently didn't think him having an impromptu cheesecake party like he did his impromptu jelly bean party was a good idea (for solely absurd reasons like 'not having the time' and 'too much going on right now IRL', whatever that meant!), Graham was still going to have his own little mini- cheesecake party at the Emporium today, with actual mini-cheesecakes, because that was funny, and all of them with graham cracker crusts, because that was even funnier.

So, really, if anyone came in and happened onto the impromptu mini mini-cheesecake party and helped him celebrate, they'd be doing him a favor, because he will try to eat all of these himself, and he will regret it later.

He didn't find any cheesecake games to go with his cheesecake party, but he did find a cheese board game, and he thought that was pretty neat, at least!

As he went about various cleaning and tidying tasks about the store, Graham kept uncovering jelly beans that had somehow gotten everywhere since his jelly bean party last week (he'd tasted a few of them, actually, to make sure, and they were definitely stale). It was a little surprising that Little Bot had somehow managed to miss them, but he thought up a good secondary solution that he knew was practically fool-proof. So he put up a "Be Back in 15 Minutes!" sign on the door very briefly, so he could run back to the dorms, and come tearing back to the shop mounted atop of Triumph, who set about rooting out the scattered jelly beans much like a pig might root out some truffles.

"Ooooh, truffles!" Graham said, and then got lost daydreaming a little bit on which he would like better, truffle jelly beans, or truffle jelly beans??

He should see about finding some of each so he could compare!

Even though Graham had announced the Jelly Bean Party at the Maaaaaaagpie Empooooor~rium tonight, he knew not everyone had the chance to catch radio, so he was absolutely sending out a text to all his friends and pretty much anyone else that Fandom decided needed to know about as soon as he got to the store that morning after his broadcast (and after picking up breakfast, because he was really craving waffles after that!), and then he very, very quickly took care of all his usual tasks when he came in to get them out of the way so he could work on making a big sign to put up for all passersby to see:

JELLY BEAN PARTY!
Here! Friday! Tonight!
Bring your favorite jelly beans
and let's PARTY!

And, with that done, and without there being...much set-up involved in a jelly bean party, Graham then decided to show his new best friend, Squire Axe O'Lotl, around the store (Garret, it turned out, was going to be spending the day with Triumph in the stables--cavies gotta cavy!), which eventually lead into....well, an adventure.

And adventure that basically meant having Axe A'Lotl axing a lot of the shelves and boxes, with a great deal of enthusiasm and sound effects, in their great hunt to discover the mysterious famed Jellybean Tree, so that they may chop in down in time for the grand Jelly Bean Party!

Look. He had fun here, alright?

Things were a little quieter as the carnival was being set up this morning, but after the last few days that was kind of a low bar. Maybe hiding out in the place where you were known to be scheduled to work every Friday was not the brightest place to hide out if you were trying to avoid getting into certain legal troubles for breech of an advertising contract, but Graham was kind of hoping that the last place they'd think to look was exactly the one place he was supposed to be.

Besides, he had forgotten all about his potential impending legal trouble a while ago, because he couldn't help being curious about that mobile game he was shilling earlier, and, well, since it was free to download, he was hunched over his phone at the counter today, frowning and poking at the screen with a shake of his head.

"This," he declared, "is nothing like what I said it was..."

Oh, and this was just the tip of the iceberg in what was going to be a newfound habit of disappointment with Mobile Games as Advertised for him, wasn't it?

Graham, admittedly, did not know much about all of this King of the Bracelets stuff, but, oh boy, when he found out...

...it was going to be a very fun and exciting time for him, but, in the meanwhile, he did discover this and thought that would be an excellent place to start, and it was a good thing he sort of just poked at it making up his own rules about how to play because if he was actually playing in earnest with other people, he would probably cry and never want to hear anything about Bracelets ever again.

Graham still had a lot of that zumba from yesterday in his bones, which meant there was going to be a lot of salsa-stepping and hip-shaking around the store that day. He tried to get Saffron in on it, too, but she was thoroughly unimpressed and uninterested, although he liked to think that Little Bot was getting into the action a little bit.

Most of that dancing around was spent also going through the games and trying to find any dance related ones to sort of feature for the day. He wound up finding a decent amount of them, but the one that really captured his attention was distracting enough to have him stop dancing long enough to pour over it, and....

"Oooooh, solo play!" he realized. "Let's goooooo!"

Yes. This was a lad who was genuinely excited for games he could play by himself. Some habits just died hard, man.

There should really be a ban on food related notes for his Friday radio, because Graham came into his shift at the Emporium a little late that day, having swung by J,GoB and had a very difficult time between choosing what he'd like to have for his very healthy, very good, not at all too sugary, how dare you?, breakfast. Of course there would be pie, but what kind? Fruit tarts sounded good, too, but made his cheeks just flare up and burn that morning, so he settled on some danishes, instead, and he did think about turnovers, and it was a good time for apples, and so he got some of those, too, and when he got to the shop, he just took a moment to spread out his pastries over the counter and look over them happily for a moment before starting to dig in.

Little Bot was close at hand to get all the crumbs, and there was plenty for him to tuck into his pockets to save for later, too!

Caritas was decked out tonight for tonight's event with balloons and a giant glittery sign over the stage.

WELCOME TO
THREE MINUTE DATES!!

And a few minutes before 8:00, Kitty took the stage with the zombie band playing her on. As the music stopped, she began, "Welcome, everyone, to our semi-annual Three Minute Dates! If you're new to this, you've added your names to the list and when your name is called, you'll meet your first date and have three minutes to get to know them. Then when the buzzer sounds, it'll be on to your next date. Easy peasy! We've done things a little differently tonight, and gone through the painstaking process of picking some great matches for you all-"

It was then that Tino took it upon himself to come by to show off something like a miniature version of SNL's upcoming hosts board, with everyone's names attached in pairs. It was really a work of art.

And then he slipped on a patch of glitter and the names went flying everywhere.

One of the zombies played a sad "wah wah" sound.

For a moment Kitty just stared in horror, and then said, "Give us two minutes," and dashed off the stage.

Off to a great start!

Look, just because he was working here, Graham didn't seem to think that should exclude him from donating money to chase bouncy dice around the store, even if that did mean he was kind of in charge of timing himself for the challenge, but that was fine!

And, true, he could probably get away with just chasing bouncy dice around the store without donating five dollars each time or, heck, even without the time limit, but that seemed to be antithetical to the whole concept.

Honestly, at this point, he might as well just have Steph donate today's paycheck, because he enjoyed this way too much, and if it turned out to be a pretty quiet day, there was literally nothing that would distract him enough to realize he should maybe stop after a while or take a break...

After reporting on the bouncing dice sets on the radio that morning, of course that was the first thing Graham was going for when he got in, setting a few of them bouncing with a fascinated, mystified, impressed, "Zoooooounds!"

And one would think, since what he reported on was Steph's difficulty with said bouncing dice, he would have left it at that, but of course he couldn't. He had to get as many of them going as possible, and, you know what? It was incredible.

....at first.

It did not take long for regret and chaos to set in, as Graham set to the challenge of reigning all those bouncing dice in. There were a lot of flailing limbs, a couple of bumped shelves, and a lot of nearly getting his eye poked out.

Until he realized that he could just open up his cloak and catch the nice with it, relegating them to the vast and endless space within his massive pockets. He breathed out a sigh of relief and wondered how long it would take for them to settle enough for him to be able to safely retrieve them from his pockets.

Considering how one would occasionally just bounce right out of his pockets onto the floor...well...probably a while, actually...

Graham knew it was probably a losing battle, but he came into the store that day determined to finally break through whatever it was between himself and Saffron by engaging her in some fun card games. He tried a few of them...euchre, rummy, Tanalore Hold 'Em, old maid. He thought he almost managed to get her interested in the building of some houses of cards, but it turns out that she just wanted to knock them down as soon as he got them constructed, and he was pretty sure Go Fish was going to be a big hit, all things considered, but he was pretty sure that the fact that it involved no actual fish was a big mark against him in that regard.

"In my defense," he appealed to her as she went to go ignore him in favor of grooming her paws, "it's literally called Go Fish, not We Already Have Fish At Home."

So it looks like it was just solitaire for Graham today after all.

Or, you know, he could actually do some work, too.

The only problem with having been inspired by radio to go and pick up some Cheetos for tonight's game session was that...now Graham knew he had Cheetos just sitting there, waiting to be consumed, underneath the counter right now, and he could not stop thinking about them, and maybe if he just had a little bit of them right now, it would be okay? Like, just to tide him over. Just to make sure he hadn't gotten a bad bag, or something. A bit of quality control....

...there would be no Cheetos for the game session tonight.

What had started as a completely innocent perusal of some miniatures in the search for maybe ones that could be used for his game and maybe some cool ideas for set-pieces and monsters had turned out into Graham building a very elaborate 'castle' scene out of all things that were nearby on the counter and enacting a very dramatic siege of said castle by a collection of miniatures, containers of dice, all of which eventually lead to a sudden attack from a store cat who did not appreciate being involved in any of Graham's shenanigans, which worked out perfectly, because she ended up destroying everything in sight as she raged for a moment before scampering off.

"Mmm, you're right," said Graham, in the voice of one of his dice-soldiers, to another one, as they surveyed the damage of the Kingdom of the Countertop Plateau. "Our current watery defenses of Castle Cardboard against Saffron the Great of the Felinesphere were insufficient! ....we're gonna need a bigger moat!"

Graham wasn't really sure why it had happened; he was inclined to think maybe a wizard did it, or perhaps he really shouldn't be reading spell books before bedtime because then he wound up maybe accidentally casting some sort of sleep spell on himself, or maybe Gray was rubbing off on him in some way, but he'd slept in that morning, and totally missed his radio broadcast! He supposed it was nice of the squirrels to not bother him and just let him enjoy the late morning, but that meant it threw off his entire day, and he was also late getting into the Magpie Emporium! And he sure hoped that he was able to get things on track once he was there, because he'd feel terrible if he was still off his game when it came time for...well, his game later on!

But he was here, he was determined to make up for it by working extra hard, and also wondering when he might have time to swing by the Magic Box to see if they had any good spells that might be useful for setting some kind of alarm to go off at a certain point in time to wake one up in case they'd randomly been struck with an extra sleep spell or whatever it was sometimes!

Something like that would be really useful! Maybe they could even put it on a phone, or something!

There was a small part of Graham that wondered if he shouldn't let his radio broadcasts influence his eating habits so much, but, as he came in to work at the store today and settled behind the counter with an absolutely ridiculous helping of strawberry shortcake with mountains of whipped cream for breakfast...he couldn't see why anyone wouldn't let their radio broadcasts influence their eating habits when it lead to such delicious, delicious inspiration.

There was a lot of it, too, and so he offered to share some with Little Bot and Saffron, the former of which only seemed interested in the crumbs that managed to make it onto the floor in Graham's excitement to dig in and the latter of which he'd actually managed to entice over for a little bit with the promise of some of that whipped cream, which looked adorable when accidentally dolloped on her nose.

"See?" he said. "I'm not so bad, right?"

Just for that, Graham, Saffron was going to take a little bit more cream and then ignore you extra hard for the rest of the day now.

As with most break weeks, there was at least one player who wasn't around for the gaming session that Friday, so Graham decided to call it off that Friday until they could all be there for it. Which wasn't to say he wouldn't welcome if anyone still showed up and they could poke around at some other things or do some kind of one-shot, but sometimes, it was just nice to have a break and recharge for the next session.

And for him to get some new idea, too, flipping through some source books and maybe even some books for other systems, just to try to mix it up a little, which meant that, on occasion, he'd find something really interesting and oooh and ahhhh about it and then try to tell Saffron all about it, but of course, Saffron just seemed to be on some plane of existence where Graham didn't exist at all, so his excited ramblings and musings went entirely unnoticed.

Which was fine! He'd always been pretty used to just talking to anyone who'd listen, even if that anyone was simply just himself.

Actual, literal rainbow? Still in the sky, check.

Weather, still surprisingly cooperative? Also check.

Like last year, the parade was starting up near the lighthouse and passing all the businesses on that end of the island before making its way across, past Serenity Cove and the Arms Hotel. In a slight change from last year's route, it would then take a left up Griffin Way, a right onto Black Swan Drive, then down Minotaur Lane and onto Apocalypse Avenue to loop around the park and pass Galactica Point before doubling back to the park by way of Sphinx Street and Mallard Way.

The parade even seemed to have a grand marshal's float of sorts this year: Little Bot the souped-up Roomba from the Magpie Emporium, all painted in Pride flag colors with a shoebox full of the store's resident gamer gremlins on his back, each of them waving various flags. The glittery varieties, even. (Should anyone have concerns about the gremlins biting anyone, Little Bot was carrying a dented Cypher System core rulebook in two of his servo claws just in case they got ideas, but none of them seemed remotely interested in getting off of their float anyway.)

A low-key picnic was set up in the park at the end of it all -- nothing like yesterday's festival, though the decorations over the picnic tables remained -- with some rainbow pastries courtesy of JGoB, beverages, and fruit skewers. Yes, also in rainbow colors thanks to a variety of different fruits.

You know, just so everybody had a little recovery treat after all that hiking.

Had it rained overnight, even just for a moment? That might be a mystery forever, but this was Fandom, so maybe that didn't matter one damn bit because the important thing here was that a huge, brilliant rainbow arced through the sky over the island right on schedule, the way it did every year for Pride.

The park itself was also a wild array of rainbow colors: strings of pennants in the various flag color combinations criss-crossing over the picnic table area, a giant multicolored balloon arch over the stage, and the same rainbow bounce house and inflatable slide from last year, still forming the centerpiece of the carnival section and spilling out into a ballpit. The other carnival rides and games were arranged around the slide, with the tables and booths just beyond that.

Up on stage, a small rotation of NPC bands -- including a bunch of the weekly Blood Bowl players from the Magpie Emporium, whose volunteering had been a delightful surprise -- took turns playing short sets, mixed in with blocks of carefully curated tunes spun by Steph herself at the DJ setup off to one side... and time for karaoke or open mic performances from anyone intrepid enough to get up there. Half the time, Steph was sitting in on drums with the bands.

Happy Pride, Fandom!

Considering that Steph herself was the one really organizing this whole Pride celebration thing this weekend, Graham sure hoped she wouldn't mind if he'd brought some of his work from home into his regular work so that he could have a little more time to try and finish. The little rainbow overlay he was trying to sew together for his cloak was taking a bit longer than he'd anticipating, and since Fridays were usually pretty quiet except for his usual visitors and the game when he was done with his shift, he figured it wouldn't hurt to bring his sewing in and work on it at the counter.

Of course, he did not take into account that if you had a bit of material that you were trying to work on in the presence of a cat, that cat will sit right in the middle of it and make progress just a bit difficult.

"Now you choose to acknowledge that I exist, huh?" asked Graham, with a frown and a sigh, but, honestly? For Saffron actually spending some time with him, even if it was just to sit on his sewing? He'll still take it as a win!

Inspired a little bit, once again, by his radio broadcast, Graham had swung by the bakery on his way into work to pick up an excellent breakfast of cinnamon rolls. They were absolutely delicious, but definitely very sticky. And Graham thought it might be a good solution to just avoid getting cinnamon roll stickiness from his fingers onto everything in the store by just getting really good at using his elbows to move stuff, but...

...well, you can probably imagine how that was going.

But he also couldn't just stop eating cinnamon rolls! They were delicious! It was kind of a conundrum, but he was...doing his best.

Maybe he should be doing something like stocking or cleaning or other work related things, buuuuuuuuut.....this...kiiiiind of counted, right? Look at how cunning they all looked in their new cloaks and capes!

The day had finally come! The stars had aligned, and Graham was finally taking Belle out to the preserve so she could see Triumph's favorite rock!

It was a pretty good rock, after all, no one could really blame him for deciding that was his favorite, but they'll get to that when they arrived!

Which might take a little longer than normal, because they were making it there on foot, all three of them, because Belle had expressed that she'd like to walk, and Graham wasn't about to ride when a lady was walking, and Triumph was occasionally letting out confused little squeaks about the fact that they were walking when there he was, a perfectly good mount, that no one was riding, what was even the point?

So with another apologetic smile toward Triumph and a rub of his head between his ears, as they started down a little decline that wound around a tree, Graham looked over at Belle and risked sounding unbearably repetative as he asked her, again, "Are you sure you don't want a ride? We do have him, after all; it's sort of what he does."

[[ Graham's obviously here with the decorously modded book work, but the post is most certainly open for all your preserve needs! ]]

Graham had had so much fun with Boop last week that he figured it wouldn't hurt to maybe check out a few other games around the shop and see how he liked those, as well! It was tricky, though, really, when you didn't really have anyone to play with and there were just so many. Where do you even begin? But he had to admit that a game about gardens, of all things, caught his eye, just because it seemed so different as a game concept.

Of course, he couldn't really play it by himself, but he looked over the rules and found that it was much different than what he thought it was going to be, and just decided it would be more fun to just pretend that all he had to do was arrange all the garden cards in an appealing fashion, and that was it, that was the whole game.

The counter was absolutely covered in garden cards now, but Graham was proud of his imaginary garden, with so many gazebos and fountains, and he was then taking some of the miniatures and marching them through this collaborated landscape, having lovely little strolls, which, of course, eventually lead into them having conversations and garden parties and now he was definitely just playing pretend instead of, you know, working or something.

But the drama and intrigue! It was all very tense and salacious, trust him!

Turns out? That adorable cat game that Graham had read about on the radio was even more adorable and even more precious than he could have ever imagined, and, just as he said on radio, he practically made a beeline for it the moment he came in for his shift.

It was kind of disappointing, though, that Saffron wasn't nearly as good at playing it as you'd imagine a cat would be, for a game about cats, and eventually, after booping all the cats off the bed and then trying to replace them before realizing that the makeshift bed gameplay board was not nearly as comfortable as one might thing, stalked off to go back to ignoring Graham entirely or favoring cleaning her paws in all the sunspots.

Which was fine, Graham was just going to keep playing by himself. He grew up playing a lot of board games by himself, really. He was very good at it.

This first week of the summer session had been great, and Graham was very eager to get to the shop for his shift that day so that he could tell Little Bot and Saffron allllll about it!

Whether or not either of them cared about his excited ramblings again this week was probably up for debate, but he wasn't about to let something like disinterest ever stop him from telling a story!

And he made sure to work while he talked, too, so he was multitasking, although the storytelling definitely took over and he wound up just having to redo most of the work, because he definitely ended up putting things on the wrong shelves and, in a few instances, just making more work for himself. But it was fiiiiine.

Graham was doing some work today, here and there, but most of his focus had, admittedly, been in not only telling Little Bot and Saffron all about his adventures in the preserve as Graham the WereCapybara, but also acting it out...

...which, in a sense, meant that he had created more work for himself, because acting it out involved a lot of rampaging through the store and bumping into things and knocking them over, but rest assured that he was very careful to only knock over things he knew could take the fall damage and studiously avoided anything particular fragile or breakable, and he very dutifully put everything back in its place and tidied it up again once he was finished.

Saffron, categorically, did not seem to care, but Graham liked to think that the little beeps that Little Bot gave off on occasion were beeps of approval, appreciation, and being impressed, and not just...signaling a low battery, or something like that.

A thrilling and exciting excursion to the onsen had been planned, and, even though it took a little bit of doing (and a few useful Internet videos!), Graham had convinced the staff at the onsen that Triumph had just as much a right as both himself and Belle to partake in the relaxing hot springs...more, even! Because look at how cute!

Once they got in, Triumph wasted no time in prancing up to the edge and then pausing, taking extreme caution before slipping in and finding a good spot, and Graham, chuckling, grinned over at Belle.

"Well," he said, "I was going to say ladies first, but apparently, chivalry is dead."

Still, he ducked his head and gestured with an arm and offered, "Ladies second?"

Graham had a sloth with him at the store today!

But not just any sloth, of course! This sloth was his roommate, because that was just a thing that happened around here sometimes! Having Gray turn into a sloth in the room the other day was definitely something Graham had taken fully into stride by now, and, if anything, having Gray as a sloth was a good lesson in...patience, and taking his time (a lot of time) whenever doing anything with him in his current state.

Including playing games at the shop, which worked out great. Because while Graham was waiting for Gray to figure out and finish his moves and not being much of a Fast Sloth at all, he could do a little work around the store here and there, and, by the time he finished with something, he'd come back, and Gray would just be finishing his turn.

Or Gray would have fallen asleep.

Actually, that was what happened most of the time. But hey! They got in a good maybe five, ten minutes of gameplay! And it meant Graham managed to actually be productive around the store in the meantime!

Obviously, the gaming session for that evening was canceled due to prom, although you better believe Graham was already thinking about tucking a few extra dice and manuals in his cloak, just in case a spontaneous bout of DnD might occur on the dance floor.

As a matter of fact, he was spending most of his shift mapping out a potential prom-related one-shot for expressly that purpose. He was pretty sure all of his friends would be more interested in the dancing and everything, but you never knew! And it was important for any good game master and future knight to be prepared for anything.

....he had to admit, this one-shot was pretty good, too, so now he was going to be worried that he'd be disappointed if it didn't happen, but...all it took was thinking about doing some dancing himself (well, not by himself, clearly, but with certain other people!) to reassure him that he'd probably be pretty otherwise engaged tonight, too!

This year's prom had an elegant black and white theme, and the Community Center was decked out with tasteful decorations that had all been covered in black and silver glitter. It was still fancy by at least some measures!

The food and punch were untainted (and unglittered) for the moment, and the dance floor was open for a fabulous time!

Graham was a little bit late for work that day, due to clothing reasons. He wanted to head back to his room to see if his cloak and cap had been somehow magically transferred over there when he turned into a bandicoot in the first place, and was very relieved to find out that they had, indeed. He would have felt terrible if his mother needed to make him a whole new cloak and cap! But everything was back to normal, and he figured, since he was already at the dorms, he'd bring Triumph along with him to the store, since he didn't get to spend as much quality time with him while bandicooted, and this was a good way to make up for it.

And, surprising no one, especially after hearing about it from Summer during their broadcast, he was thrilled to check out the gelatinous cube plush, and he and Triumph spent a good deal of time between customers camped out in front of the counter with it, speculating on what would make for other good things to put in there.

A conversation that was mostly centered around just one, simple, innocent question: "What kind of jelly bean do you think a gelatinous cube would like the most?"

You'd be surprised, how many different branches of philosophical ponderings a question like that could inspire! And it was especially nice when Graham did, in fact, have a bag of jelly beans that had been waiting for him in his cloak all week, pretty much!

Charlie and Bandicoot!Graham had enjoyed an adventurous week. They'd gone exploring in the woods, soaked at the Onsen (well, Charlie had soaked, Bandicoot!Graham had happily watched and chittered with her), sung concerts on the roof, did secret silly missions through the town pretending to be spies, and, of course, made sure that Triumph was well taken care of.

But today was going to be a quieter day, so they were ensconced on a bench after picking up a picnic-y lunch, including bandicoot suitable food, obviously. Charlie was practicing her mandolin and singing silly songs to make Bandicoot!Graham laugh because that was the most adorable thing to watch. In between songs they people-watched and waited to see if anyone would stop by to see what was going on. They were absolutely open to any company!

And, as always, the park was open for anyone's park needs!

Charlie had had a long and satisfying, if exhausting, weekend back home, but she was glad to be back in Fandom. She'd sat in to play with a punk Country band, so she was playing some of those songs in case they wanted her to play again with them sometime.

The stereo wasn't particularly happy with this development and kept inserting loud blares of marching music, but Charlie wasn't sure it hurt with this particular type of music.

In any case, Charlie was here and happy and Groovy Tunes was open!

There didn't seem to be a whole lot to do around the store that Friday, outside of helping the occasionally wandering customer, and there was only so much dusting a man could do, really, and so Graham decided to just set himself up with a nice game of chess to square off against himself in an epic simulated strategic battle.

He'd spent a lot of time growing up just playing games against himself, so he was really good at playing himself at chess. It was a good challenge, because his opponent seemed to know his every move and could almost effortlessly predict every twist and turn in his strategy! But it was fine, he had a few tricks up his cloak that he was pretty eager to pull out that might really throw him off track!

(He tried to play with Saffron, but she made it abundantly clear that she was going to play by her own rules, which involved just knocking the pieces off the board with a few bats and swipes of her paws and then going back to ignoring Graham for the rest of the day).

Graham had not been privy to all the various other positions in which the plushies in the shop had been doing battle that week, but they had, in fact, moved yet again, their struggle as epic and evident as ever, but Graham himself, alas, did not have much time to appreciate it, as he (with a jaunty new green feather added to his cap) was making good on his promise of a little jellybean pow-wow with Leroy from his broadcast earlier.

"So, anyway," he was telling Leroy, dutifully separating out some of the rum jellybeans for the squirrel and some popcorn flavored ones for him and some motor oil flavored ones for Little Bot and some tuna flavored ones for Saffron to ignore, "she's a redhead," a knowing look and maybe even a bit of a wink, "her name is Amber, and she's one of my best squirrelfriends from back home, I think you'll really like her, I hear she even has some connections to the Royal Family of Avalon, but she likes to keep that a little on the downlow because she doesn't really like to put on airs. Now, obviously, I can't really suggest you guys be penpals, because squirrels in my world don't know how to write, but...Llewdor is lovely this time of year, and when is the last time you've had a vacation, anyway?"

Leroy opened his mouth to say something, but Graham cut him off with a little bit of a chuckle. "School trips," he said, giving him another knowing look, "don't count! You guys work really hard on those things! I think maybe a real vacation could do you some good. Maybe get out there, see different parts of the multiverse, meet some new people. Meet some new squirrels...."

Leroy didn't really look convinced yet, but that was fine. Graham had plenty of jellybeans.

Graham didn't know where the epic music that would occasionally start playing in bursts when he started to do stuff around the store, but honestly? He kind of appreciated how the dramatic swells made his sweeping of the shelves feel more like he was swishing a sword at some swashbuckling pirates, or how short, tense strings made his stacking of some boxes and merchandise seem like a dangerous endeavor that could topple and fall at any moment! And when he went to take a little bit of a rest at the counter, the music went soft and soothing, until he felt struck with an idea for the campaign, and so he leaned in to start scribbling it down and the music intensified to push his inspiration along further.

He did not, however, want to talk about the goofy music that had accompanied him when he foolishly tried to cross the store with a pile of precariously stacked comic books that went fluttering about when he inevitably feel with a sliding trombone sound and scattered both him and the comic books all over the floor.

Aloy was taking her Sunwing out for a walk.

Or rather, she'd taken it for a flight around the island, just to make sure none of its joints rusted up and it got enough sunlight to fully recharge. They weren't quite done yet, but she'd gotten hungry. Eating in flight on top of an electrified bird-machine... well.

It didn't seem completely safe.

The Sunwing landed not far from the pond, planting its metal talons firmly in the grass. Aloy slid off its back, and stretched her arms. "I have definitely been in the air too long," she sighed.

Her knees felt wobbly.

Because Graham had gotten a little caught up and lost track of time talking with Leroy about his current relationship woes, he was running a little bit late for his shift at the Emporium, so when he finally did manage to hurry in, so quickly he might have lost his cap if he wasn't careful!, he made sure to get straight to work and work hard as he could to make up for it. Even if that meant, since Steph had also been pretty hard at work, there wasn't really much to do besides cleaning and tidying and....well, even sweeping was kind of pointless, with Little Bot, but Graham was going to extra-sweep anyway!

And not go hunting for the new shiny dice he'd read about on the radio, nope, he wasn't going to look. He was just going to keep working and thinking about stuff for the game tonight and not look for shiny dice, he was not--

"Ooooooooooooooooh, they are shiny!!"

Hey, he tried, okay? He was only human.
